What's so bad about engineering? I am starting a 4 year mechanical engineering course this September.

There is a huge shortage here in the UK, so a job is almost guaranteed.

The job is guaranteed because no country in the world produces enough quality engineers to fulfill the demand. It's a difficult job and you have to be incredibly good at maths and physics to do it and as a result is is highly paid.

'Proper' engineers rank up there with doctors and lawyers. By proper I mean actual chartered engineers, not the car guy that changes your oil and still brands himself one.
