If a man were to walk down the street with a fancy suit and a Rolex and was mugged, nobody would say it's his fault for wearing something indicating he has wealth for the taking. But when a woman wants to tan in a bikini at a pool, she's asking to get leered at? The sexism is astounding.

I like to look up movie rape scene and masturbate to them imagining that it's a feminist getting it, thinking "Oh, you thought getting leered at was bad, HOW YOU LIKE THESE NUTS? I'm gonna check my privilege all over your face."

I admit to wearing some clothes that would be considered revealing (not necessarily excessively slutty, but pretty flashy nonetheless). Not because I want to get stared at, but because I don't like clothes that cover up too much from a fashion standpoint. Of course if someone is being excessively rude about it I'll be annoyed by it, but otherwise I don't go around complaining about people looking every once in a while. It's not that they're treating you badly or anything, or even that you're the sexiest thing to walk the earth, it's just if you show a lot of cleavage don't be surprised when you get a couple of looks. What's the point of wearing a short skirt if you don't want anyone to look at your legs? That's like getting a tattoo on your forehead and getting mad when someone looks at it; what's the point of having it?

Depends on the situation. If he was in backstreet Chicago I'd laugh my ass off and say, "what the **** did you expect? Dumbass." If a girl is walking alone in backstreet Chicago and gets raped I'd say, "That was really stupid of you to go alone. I wish it didn't take this to teach you all something." And promptly go take a fire-axe to the rapist's dick.

actually we would say that he was more likely to get mugged because he wore expensive things and showed off his expensive things. the only difference between that man and a woman dressed as a slut getting raped is the man won't claim that what he was wearing had nothing to do with it.

and yes she is because that's ******* biology you idiot. human males are designed to look for the ideal mate and therefore we look around and stare. so yeah ******* expect to get stared at if you dress in something revealing or something that makes you stand out and be attractive. you're just asking for it because you wouldn't dress that way otherwise.

ignorant bitch

those aren't the same thing at all. People with lots of valuable things out in the open have a higher chance of getting robbed no matter what their gender or race is. It isn't someones fault if they get robbed, but if a woman is going to wear attractive provocative clothing then she has to accept the fact that men will stare no matter what.

I think there's a bit of a difference between looking at someone and mugging someone.

a rolex is something worth actual money i can steel a rolex and actually sell it to someone or keep it to myself for its value. But if a woman is in the wrong type of neighborhood dressing like a whore, she should expect something to go wrong because there are always gonna be bad people out there. And no if a man gets mugged his rolex in a bad area it's his fault for wearing it there in the first place just as it is your fault for dressing like that there. Your argument is extremely invalid you are comparing apples and oranges, have fun drowning in a sea of red thumbs

I find this is a valid point. I, too, think that if you get mugged, it's your own fault for looking rich. Because, as we all know, like all males are genetically engineered to have a sexual libido, all blacks are genetically engineered to mug people.

If a man did said things and walked through a rough neighbourhood only to get mugged, then yeah. It is pretty much his ******* fault for flaunting his wealth.

You assume we wouldn't say that he was a dumbass for walking around flashing his wealth in a neighbourhood where he might get mugged?

The difference is human biology, specifically, male biology. Males will look at a poorly covered woman due to their biological instinct to do so, also due to the fact that we are free to look wherever. Looking doesn't hurt anyone. Stealing something is a no-no in the civilized world, you are not free to steal.

If you're going to compare a mere glance to a crime, you really are ignorant.

Is someone was to walk down a ghetto area alone while dressed in expensive cloths and got mugged, I would blame him. I remember in P.E during highschool, if we don't lock our lockers, it is our fault for not putting a lock on it and protecting our own things.

Comparing getting robbed with getting looked at. However little you get mugged is worse than the dirtiest look you can get. I mean c'mon...
User avatar #25 to #12 - spankyy (06/30/2013) [-]
I get your point, but I really think the whole "dressed provocatively" thing would be a more apt comparison for this argument. If he's walking through a neighborhood where he's likely to get mugged, dressed as though he's rich, then he certainly did deserve it. Aside from that, the guys are just looking. If I look at someone on the street whose got tons of money i'm not necessarily going to rob them. If I look at an attractive woman in a bikini i'm not going to rape her either. If you're an attractive young woman and you're in a bikini (virtually no different than underwear) then men are going to look at you. If they sit there staring at you the whole time then yeah, that's a little much, but they're going to look at you. Aside from that, she would likely (as other posters have said) have NO problem if she found the guys attractive. It's only because she deems them unattractive that this is a problem in her eyes.
#24 to #12 - xxxsonic fanxxx (06/30/2013) [-]
and actually yeah if you are walking down a street in a fancy as **** clothing then you are a little asking for getting mugged because there are individuals out there who'll see your fancy **** and think you're a good mugging target. It's not YOUR fault that you got mugged but the other person's but still you did make yourself a brighter target
#22 to #12 - deliveryman ONLINE (06/30/2013) [-]
The men in the post are just looking, they aren't raping her. Thats like the guy with the nice suit and watch walking down the street and a guy looks at him and says, "damn, nice suit and watch."
User avatar #16 to #12 - bandoslootshare (06/30/2013) [-]
If a man is mugged for dressing like a rich person, then people will say he deserved it. This is the same way with the woman. Both holds true, and both are consistent with each other.

yeah i know right. i would say that. what is he/she ? a retarted fish frog?
#14 to #12 - xxxsonic fanxxx (06/30/2013) [-]
I understand your point, and it's valid... if the topic here is rape. It isn't. People are free to look wherever they want, and revealing clothing is going to draw looks. I understand why she's uncomfortable about it, and it would certainly be disrespectful to stare, but to some extent looking is expected. Don't pretend women don't do the same thing if they see a guy they think is hot. Guys just don't complain about it.

Moral of the story: context is everything. Without knowing if they were staring or just looking, it's impossible to say whether or not they were being disrespectful.
