This man is ******* legendary. He does something morally responsible and right and then is almost hunted after by the government while foreign countries take him in and just look at the US like "really? You're upset over THIS?"

You mean he sells massive amounts of government information to China and Russia, who then takes him in since he's their bro now, then releases parts of it to the public as well before running off to hide behind the guise of a good Samaritan.
Really though, both ideas are plausible enough. If he really was a good guy with nothing to hide, he could have just stayed in the U.S. and had a TON more support domestically and world-wide. If he dies or is jailed, he would be a martyr. He would be legendary, then.

Assuming he isn't ousting any agents or giving foreign nation information that could potentially undermine our security or turn alliances against us; then yes, he did the right thing.
The fact is, we don't know what information he has or what he's doing with it. Saying someone is amazing without knowing the full scope or consequences of their actions is... iffy.

So what? The information he released is the truth, regardless of the consequences the US is responsible. That's like blaming a detective for a families grief when he arrests the murderer.

If America tries Snowden for treason I'm pretty sure she'll lose all her "Allies" anyway.
The World thinks America is a land where your personal liberties are sold to the highest bidder, and that's not going to improve until you remove your Federal Reserve and remove the corporations from the government.
But the same can be said about us over here in England, I mean, the dirty Rothschilds own our own Bank of England for **** sake. But at least our world standing is better.

It's not a big surprise, money is power.
Completely removing the fed, or some big corps won't solve the problem. It may sound bizzare, but the idea of removing the concept of money might solve many things.

You can't remove money. Money is just a standardized method of trade. Unless you tell everyone in the USA they aren't allowed to trade with anyone else, money will exist in one form or another.
Individual greed is what drives Capitalism.

I totally agree.
Replace the incentive of personal gain (i.e. monetary gain) with the incentive of making your state a better place for all and I'm confident that individualism and greed will be restricted.

It's hard to say that what he did is right, given we have no idea WHY he gave this information.
And, if I remember correctly, he went to both China and Russia. The countries that likely pose the biggest threats to the USA.
It's possible he had more information to give these governments, and wanted to cause unrest before he gave it over.
I'm not saying he's a bad person, I'm just saying it's hard to say he's really good.

He gave the information away because he believed (correctly) that the American government was illegally and immorally breaching its citizens personal liberties.

Those countries would be the best places to seek temporary asylum I imagine. I don't know if he sold them any information, but if he had to leave, he could reside there for a short time, while the government lets him in hopes he might reveal something to them, intentionally or not.
It doesn't seem like a bad idea to me at least, especially considering I've heard that he has been staying in areas that are technically international (Hong Kong which is complicated with China, Russian international airport areas), so no government has a ton of pull over his actions at those particular times

yeah, im selfish and would never do what he did. Morally right ? I'll take the $200,000 a year job and the gorgeous girlfriend over moral obligations any day. Jesus, it would not go well if the US government did something to him, given how the public views/loves him. also I bet people in the US Government likes him too probably, even if he was caught I doubt they would do anything to him.

The maximum penalty for the three things he is charged with is 30 years. That is each thing he is charged with has a maximum penalty of 10 years. It is very likely that considering the nature of his crime (and crime it was regardless of the moral dilemma) he would probably not get the maximum sentence and would likely be convicted of all three but with the sentences all served at the same time instead of consecutively.

Snowden is charged with three federal crimes: theft of government property, unauthorized communication of national defense information, and willful communication of classified communications information with an unauthorized party. Treason is a very specific thing as astafarianp pointed out. The media is still calling what he did treason but they are doing so because they are the media and they are paid to be hyperbolic and try to make every story sensational not because they are correct.

Tecnically according to the constitution treason is insanely hard to commit. It only occurs when the following conditions are met "shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort" Article 3, section 3 of the constitution. Basically you can only commit treason when the country is in a DECLARED war with whoever the person was giving aid to.
