1. I can't speak for other areas of america, but where I live there are about 3 Gold's Gyms for every Planet Fitness
2. That might be a 1 day offer or something
3. You are waaaaay skewing the facts
So, in short, yes, they do hand out cupcakes at some gyms that are on a limited time offer.

Still A GYM thought it to be a good idea to serve cupcakes and pizza, however limited or often. You don't find that the least bit peculiar?

It's weird, and likely in the interest of promoting business.
Thing is, it isn't normal. You are associating things that americans consider odd and very counter intuitive to be the norm. My problem with that is that even though it is an isolated incident, you have decided that this automatically makes it representational of all the gyms in america. Go and count how many gyms are serving pizza and cupcakes, then how many aren't.
Basically, you are a racist asshole.

to quote myself: "I never claimed every gym in the USA hand them out, I simply commented that you live in a country where someone who runs a gym has actually found it to be a good idea to mix fast foods and pastries with work out and fitness. THAT was my point" So I am not making it representational of all the gyms in america I'm making it representational of america as a country. What the hell does race have to do with anything? Is obese a race now?

That is what you said, and what you said here is not your full point. Since you have amended your point, that means you have changed the subject (although only a little). I don't know how you argue but when I argue and somebody changes their point, it means they have lost, at least on their original grounds.

You know you have lost an argument when you have to get technical about the other parts wording and way of arguing. I know very well what I meant when I wrote it and I haven't changed my mind or point thing. Maybe I should have but an 'a' in stead of 'the' in front of gym to make myself clearer? For that I am sorry. My point remains: You live in a country (the only country I have heard of) where a gym is handing out pizza and pastries at one time or another to their customers.

Okay so you clarify your statement. Thing is, Planet Fitness is new. It's trying to be hip and to appeal to a late teens and early adult group. Pizza and cupcakes is an amazing way to attract people to your gym, and even though it is completely counter intuitive and even though I disagree with it, it does get people to the gym. And any first visit gives chance for a second visit. And any second visit gives chance for a long term routine of going. It's just weird business, not a representation of the obese mindset of americans that you imply it is.

I see your point. I guess it just comes down to the "land of opportunity"-part then. Whatever you gotta do to make the american dream come true. As a person who goes to the gym myself and am in education to work with public health I just find it to be a step backwards...

K.. first of all, this is a promotional campaign to spread the sense of companionship between people. Second, these are not free cupcakes that are given out simply because you go to the gym. Third, I go to the gym, and have never been offered a cupcake or a pizza. Fourth, you never provided proof of pizza so that argument is out. And lastly, you're taking an isolated event and encompassing an entire country because of it.

SO, i think YOU need to learn how to check your sources, and when you find even a plausible bit of evidence, to not be a ******* dick, and insult someone who provides evidence that goes against. Cunt.

I never claimed every gym in the USA hand them out, I simply commented that you live in a country where someone who runs a gym has actually found it to be a good idea to mix fast foods and pastries with work out and fitness. THAT was my point and It is in fact a perfect little picture of what your country have become. Planet Fitness pizza night.m2p And sorry for the lack of Pizza-evidence, here it is

No one here is butthurt. You are just being a presumptuous asshole who has no idea how america works. It is gigantic, so much so that even a gym group as large as planet fitness doing this isn't even close to representing us. Stop presuming a pizza night at a gym means that we are fatasses that deserve punishment and ridicule.

We have more problems right now. Any changes like you said would cause MAJOR economic problems and that is NOT what we need right now. Until America is able to stand on it's own 2 feet again we shouldn't be trying to ruin the economy further in an attempt to make it's unemployed citizens a little bit thinner.

That I can understand.
The world is overpopulated as it is so however many people dying from obesity related diseases is probably for the better anyways, my problem lies with the people grossly profiting from the people hurting itself by consuming junk and smoking cigarettes.

Well I just looked up the death by obesity statistic.
By damn 300,000 a year, just behind 500,000 for cancer and 500,000 for heart disease.
It's a bigger problem than I thought ._.

The only areas in America that are extremely obese are the midwestern and southern states. It's not like its the entire country.
