I took an art history class last year and learned about some early modern art. One that tipped me over the edge is called The Fountain, and it's a urinal flipped onto its back. You know what my book said about it? It said it was REVOLUTIONARY. It was so important that when it got lost they made a replica.

It was considered revolutionary because it set the foundation for the Dada movement, it was one of the first art pieces to really mock art culture in general. The piece may not take artistic talent, but it does make the viewer feel something. even if all you feel is outrage over the fact that a urinal made it into a museum it is still a success.

It was simply his way of saying art doesn't need to be a pretty picture, well and what better way to say that.... he was a bit of a troll.

Dude, it's Marcel Duchamp.... the piece changed art forever. Though it might not be great, you can't argue it's not revolutionary.

Duchamps Fountain, although not requiring huge amounts of talent was pretty revolutionary, as no one at that time was doing anything of the sort, whereas the picture OP posted is a hairy cheese.

I know that, but it's still just a urinal with his name painted on it...
