I am British, it was £2200 for my first car at 19. I wouldn't be mad if it wasn't a 1.1l 106, the model without any fancy extras (or even basic extras). To make matters worse, for some reason, a 1.4 fiesta would have been cheaper to insure by £800.

THE **** ?

I hope you mean £2200 for a year, right?
Because i pay ~£500 each month (5000 NOK), for a Audi A3 SB 06'.. That is £6k a year.. So yours is cheap as **** ..

Thats exactly my issue now! its just too expensive, ive been passed now for 8 months and havent driven a car since the day of my test simply because the insurance is crazy.

1: then why didnt you get the fiesta,

2: i just got a quote for a 1.2 polo at 17 and its 900 pounts, the best trick is ad your parents and grandparents to the policy , you're the main holder but the more "older" people you add the lower it goes, also the black box helps got 400 off and have ot have it in for 3 months

I did qoute a Fiesta, that was another £800 on top, and both of the folks are on the policy! And if I am not mistaken, black boxes can rise the price if you drive at night. Just a rumour, but I work nights, that'd be pointless.

They judge how reliable the car is, If it's a little ******* then it's more likely to crash.
