In Denmark we have the "Name Law", which amongst other things limits acceptable names to the list published by the Social and Integration ministry.

That's kinda ****** . I'm not condoning retarded names like North or Apple or stupid **** like that, but when a government restricts the naming of a child by a parent that's going way too far. Sure, the name I choose may embarrass the **** out of my child. God knows I've been a bit embarrassed by my name, seeing as I'm a foreigner in the US. But I can legally change my name if I feel like it. And if people make fun of my name when I meet them, I've learned to deal with that.
tl,dr: Kids can grow some damn balls and deal with their names. Having a weird name isn't the worst thing in the world. And a government that controls what you can or cannot name your child? That seems a bit totalitarian to me.

It's not really that strict.
If you want a name native to your country or culture or whatever, and the name isn't on the list, all you have to do is send a letter and get it approved of not being something like ''Sodamachine Johnson''
