Further in your defense, the costs involved in supplying dc power are, to be frank, astronomical. AC power, on the other hand, is much easier and cheaper to distribute, as the flow of electrons back and forth is easier to achieve than flowing electrons along one set path (I purposely avoided saying "along one direction" because ******* reasons).
