Only because society, media, tells them they need to be cute, pretty and close to perfect looks wise. So they need people telling them they are this to keep any sort of confidence up.

And no, it's not close to being the same for men/boys.

See, if a girl doesn't say outright (unless asked, and even then) if she is a girl, and acts like that over the internet, she's generally socially accepted. In real life, whether a girl or a guy said that they'd be seen as gross.

The rules of socializing on the internet and socializing in the real world are completely different.

unfortunately, it is true. I think it's 60% experience where this girl was *fill in the blank* and 40% this girl broke my heart because she wasn't interested in me at all and never showed interest but I'm going to call it friend-zoned anyways

I don't like this simply because I think few girls actually do this. You can find yourself pretty, but dislike certain things about yourself. It hurts girls who have low self esteem. You don't have to be unattractive to feel unattractive. It doesn't take into account that if someone wants attention badly, or is an "attention whore" as some people say, there's and underlining cause as to why and it's usually linked to a mental illness.

I can find this funny because I think people can joke about anything, but I just can't agree with it.

Because genuinely having low self esteem and little confidence isn't a thing. But then again, I never put pictures of myself on facebook, so I dunno what pretty girls are thinking when they do this.

I hate girls that genuinely believe that they are ugly when they are not. How can you convince a girl she's beautiful when she thinks otherwise?

She thanks people that call her ugly because she thinks they're the only honest ones around.

You hate girls that genuinely have insecurities and self doubt..? Try to think of it as someone sharing with you and being completely honest about a low self-esteem. For most girls, it's not about how much guys are attracted to them, it's about how they view themselves. You won't be able to " convince" her, but you can be their friend throughout it. If you truly care about a person who says this, just being there for them to talk to would be the best thing you could do. Girls feel more beautiful if you compliment/ act like you value their personality, friendship, etc. than their physical appearance.
