Didn't they originally own some sex hotels? Like, hotels designed specifically for having a one night stand

It helps they dominate the handheld market and they make affordable systems for the less "hardcore" gamer. Plus now all the hipster faggots love the Wii U so they're doing pretty good. Which is good. I'd really hate to see nintendo do bad

They have a huge cash reserve, and they have the casual market by the balls....I just hope they use this bubble of stability to get their act together and draw in some more third party developers

With the advances in their consoles and handhelds, and their success at e3, I think they'll do pretty damn well.

I can't confirm the accuracy of these 'specific' numbers, but the general attitude behind them is entirely correct.

The Wii, in spite of all the jokes made about it, was insanely popular. Not only was there such a shortage of them that you couldn't even find one on shelves for months at a time, but there was a point where the sales from the Wii were actually going to eclipse the combined total sales of both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. This is a fact. That's why they made the Kinetic and that crappy motion sensor remote. The runaway success of the Wii made the executives in charge of Xbox and Playstation panic. They thought it was as popular as it was solely because of the motion-sensing technology, and tried to ape it as much as possible. This, of course, bombed horribly for the most part.

We can talk about the quality of individual games, or even how good or bad the total lineup of games for a given console was. But if we're talking pure numbers, the Wii is the undisputed winner of the previous generation of console gaming. It didn't just win; it won by a mile.

The Wii was in truth the giant that most considered the 360 to be.

100% true.

Not only does nintendo have an enormous fan base, covering ages 20-40, for Legend of Zelda, Mario, and other IP's, Which is the age range that spends the most money on games, but they also still have a huge margin in sales with their portable consoles.

While the 3DS certainly could have done better, it's sales, and the Original DS sales is 3x as many as PSP, and the PSP Vita.

If you spread out costs, and profits, ranging from when nintendo originally started, till now, they've paid their start up costs, which is why both Sony, and Microsoft are in the red so often.

Both the Xbox One, and PS4 are going to be originally sold at a loss. This, over a year or so, will mean all of their profits comes from online content, and publishing fees.

I agree, I pretty much got an Wii for the sake of playing Mario/LoZ and I'm pretty sure that huge majority of the fanbase is older players who simply want to relive their childhood of playing that stuff. Also Microsoft have their OS and all their applications for PC, not to mention all the deals they make with companies. (I sincerely wish that they would make those series cross-platform so I wouldn't have to put up with graphic choking and poor motion sensor.)

I don't have actual sources, but I've read in a lot of gaming and business magazines that Nintendo is a highly solvent company with a huge cash reserve...I wouldn't be surprised if this is 100% legit

Except you don't "total" a company's annual profit to determine it's success. Their annual profits have halved from 5.5 billion to 2.5 billion to less than 1 Billion. You left out their 2012 earnings because they posted a loss. OP is a massive faggot.

Good 'ol Nintendo, they deserve it for still giving a damn. Read some interviews with the big devs all being really genuinely excited about their latest/future projects, nice to see. The head zelda developer even wants to make a brand new IP before he retires.
