Except that almost every individual PC differs from one another and aren't one entity as most retards consider it to be. **** , it even costs more and can be less reliable. Also, xbox 360 and ps3 exclusive titles? Yeah no they don't exist on a PC so **** your **** .

Ports. Ports Everywhere.

Also no used games. Are you for real going to make the argument that people can go out and buy PC games?
#484 to #38 - anonymous (06/12/2013) [-]
I think the biggest argument against PCs is the time and effort. A lot of the bonuses you get with PC gaming, such as the cheaper cost against quality, requires a decent amount of time and patience.

Let's be honest, how many of us can really be arsed to invest in something which may be better financially and physical, when we can buy a console at a not far off price, but will still play all of the games we want with our mates?

The only thing a console does is stop idiots who don't know how to work a computer from breaking their own. Kinda like a Mac, there's less to change and thus less to goof up.

#72 to #38 - eivomt (06/12/2013) [-]
wat, there are several arguments against pc.
first of all its extremely expensive if you want a good one
second pc gaming is all about having the best computer whereas on consoles its a fair fight seeing as everyone has the same specs (cept network connection but that cant really be avoided)
third a pc is quickly outdated and is more susceptible to viruses etc.
User avatar #277 to #72 - angelodlt (06/12/2013) [-]
I dont want to fight but i just want to share my opinion dont hurt me
Well first of all pc gameing isnt about haveing the best computer, if you cant run a game on your computer i doubt youll play it, so why would someone suffer playing horribly with people who can run a game?
Also, if you dont know what your doing or what anti-virus programs to use, or just basically cant tell the diffrence between legit and fake, why go through the risk of buying a pc in the first place?
ok thanks
#427 to #277 - eivomt (06/12/2013) [-]
not trying to start a fight either im just saiyan if you want the good games to run smoothly then it is going to be more expensive. now i don't get viruses often (i think) but my computers generally lose speed over a few years, i dunno why cause I dont really know much about computers. and surely you must be joking about that last bit, a computer is more or less a necessity for pretty much everyone nowadays, at least in the western world, but I don't have the money for a good gaming-pc. I'm okay with sacrificing some resolution or whatever for a cheaper alternative aka a console. to each his own though, I'm not trying to say pc-gaming sucks I just wanted to point out that there are arguments against it

Three reasons will always exist for a console:
1. Social: With a console, I can go split creening with friends and rage at Halo or Super Smash Bros. Something that the PC can't really do.
2. Financial: A decent PC can cost you between$700-1000. The upcoming PS4, on the other hand, is only $400, for the same hardware that the decent PC has.
3. Convenience: On a console, you can almost literally, just plug and play. On a PC, however, you have to worry about downloads, updates, and keeping the system clean.
User avatar #73 to #70 - DisgruntledTomato (06/12/2013) [-]
>Same hardware as a decent PC

#122 to #73 - zekest (06/12/2013) [-]
well many games are made primaly on consoles so even and ps3 and xbox 360 with 512mb of ram and 256mb of gpu were able to run newest games like ac3, I doubt that my notebook with 4gb of ram and 512mb of gpu would be able to do that on lowest settings
#103 to #73 - bronynexgen (06/12/2013) [-]
Here's a decent PC. The PS4/XBone(r) has about the same stuff power-wise as this, for $500 cheaper, The grand total for this PC was over $900, without wireless support, and trying to be as frugal as possible, without skimping on power.

Same hardware specs, give or take, and much cheaper.
#116 to #103 - zekest (06/12/2013) [-]
so you know that network adapter is INSIDE your motherboard?
User avatar #114 to #103 - DisgruntledTomato (06/12/2013) [-]
It really depends on what you consider to be a decent PC, I would consider a decent PC to be able to run Bioshock Infinite on High, the hardware you have specified will not be able to reach that. To be honest I am still going to get PS4, but it is silly to make comparisons from console to PC simply because hardware wise the PC will always win. Also advice to those seeking a new gaming PC, ebay and newegg are your friend. You will always find really good cheap second hand hardware from rich gamers who want the very best and sell on their old hardware.
User avatar #141 to #114 - forbesydemon (06/12/2013) [-]
My 3-4 year old laptop can run Bioshock Infinite on High and is definitely not as high spec as that. It's not as hard as you'd think. Sure, it crashed once or twice but that was out of dozens of hours of gameplay. But my laptop was around $800NZD whereas the new consoles are just under that and a lot more grunty. I prefer PC gaming but alot of PC users need to realise that the new wave of consoles will be a much better option for the average gamer until PC's catch up in a year or two.
User avatar #119 to #114 - bronynexgen (06/12/2013) [-]
I would not recommend second hand hardware, sorry. The warrentee for that is probably only 60-90 day, and it could have problems with it that caused the other guy to sell it.
User avatar #121 to #119 - DisgruntledTomato (06/12/2013) [-]
It depends who you are getting it from, really. I would agree not to randomly go and buy stuff from sneaky vendors but for the most part it is a safe option. I built my PC using second hand parts and it works great.
User avatar #125 to #121 - bronynexgen (06/12/2013) [-]
I see. I'll look into it when I have the money to build a new machine. Maybe in a few years, when Moore's Law makes my other one become obselete.

Well to be fair the main argument I hear is that most people have a ps3 because they want to play online with people from their school. This makes sense because its not like the entire school is gonna switch to pc gaming just because you have and it's not like you're going to be able to convince each of them individually either regardless of how much better pc gaming is. So while the online support for pc may be better what's the point in having it if all of your friends are on psn? Also consoles are cheaper generally. The ps4 is going to be £350 but a similarly performing pc will set you back £400 not including the price of software and peripherals.
User avatar #368 to #313 - comanderspy (06/12/2013) [-]
in the long run, consoles are a very stupid way to game. let me show you
AAA title
day 1
pc: $50-$60 console: $60
month 1
pc: $45-$60 console: $60
month 2-4
pc: 30 console: $60

and it goes on and on like that, i mean, have you seen mass effect 1,2,3 on the psn, its still ******* 60 bucks. or pretty much any other game. this is because steam has adapted to the market and the amount people are willing to pay for a non physical copy of a game. a physical copy costs lots of money to distribute, steam has to sell it 60 on day one or the whole system collapses on itself, everyone would go to pc no doubt to buy $30 games on day one, sometimes they are paid to keep the price high.
#501 to #368 - ohnotwoone (06/12/2013) [-]
its because there are no used games on the PC and the devs/ publishers can afford to cut the price.

you ******* scum, have you at least bought any game that come from the developers you steal from?

i will admit, i was there, in pirate bay, once... downloaded red alert 2. played like nothing in the world, then sim city, then other titles (cysis, cod mw1.) but i promise you that somehow you feel something inside when you buy a game you truly love. when i bought tf2 (when you could that is) is when i started to deviate from the **** that is pirating, idk, its just something nice, giving money to someone who deserves it.

but dont get me wrong, i still pirate photoshop and adobe producst, they can go suck a bag of dicks... 99.99 for some **** product that has way better clones for free... yeah.
User avatar #522 to #390 - theprocrastibator (06/12/2013) [-]
This. I always feel some form of regret when I get stuff from the bay (yarr) and then I go buy a game. Not the one from the bay (yarr), but it's still a game nonetheless.
#412 to #390 - anonymous (06/12/2013) [-]
i use piratebay to try out different games and buy the ones i like. When buying a book, i want to read some pages and not some 5 sentence extract, so i can look at its quality and utility.
