IMO only the first 3 are worth watching and still only the first is enjoyable

I don't understand why people didn't like the fourth one. I appear to be the only one that thought that the fourth one was a massive improvement over 2 and 3 (though light years behind the first.) Much as I like almost all of the actors in 2 and 3, the plot just became jumbled, random, and so dumb that it was hard to enjoy them at all.

Are you serious? What is your argument for this?

Basis, whatever
User avatar #186 to #47 - Hreidmar (06/11/2013) [-]
My basis is that in the fourth movie, they basically made it simple again. There was no attempt at making 4 or 5 storylines like the second and third movies did, and then to try to weave them all together, which I thought didn't work at all. I'm not saying the plot was any smarter... it was just as nonsensical in 'Stranger Tides...' but the fact that it was so simple allowed us to be able to ignore it, for the most part, and just focus on the antics of Captain Sparrow and Barbossa. Also removing Will and Elizabeth benefited the series, I thought. They were right in place in the first movie, but in the second and third they just seemed extra, and not nearly as interesting as Jack or Barbossa.
User avatar #187 to #186 - oodlesandoodles (06/11/2013) [-]
I understand that, but here's the thing. The fourth to tried to force a love story that had no basis, and just wouldn't work. They hastily introduced new characters and backstories by telling and not showing. The problem with the fourth one was that the script all seemed like it was written in a day. Dead Man's Chest was just as simple as Curse of the Black Pearl. It wasn't until At Worlds End when they tried combine what should've been spread out across three films into one

back when americ still allowed slavery, the south wanted thier slaves to count toward the population of the state so they would have more power in congress.... the north only wanted the white population to be counted because that's who voted for congress. the compromised and determined that for every 5 slave you owned, 3 of them would be counted toward the population.

this was also back when congressmen knew how to compromise with the opposing side

You got it all wrong. The Black Pear never was a slave trade ship, its a totaly different class, designed for speed not cargo, and could never hold such a large number of people. Jack sold the souls of the 100 slaves to Davy Jones so he would raise the Black Pearl - the ship his father sunk when he retired form active piracy. Cutler Becket declared him as a pirate after this. The other story was made up as a cover to make him look better.
