The "Gods" from the Marvel universe are not actual Gods. They merely gave rise to humans worship OF THEM as Gods. Same thing would happen if you sent The Hulk, Captain America, or even Hawkeye back in time.

What exactly is your definition of a "god"?

Abrahamic religions are pretty much the only ones that define God as omniscient, omnipotent, and perfect.

Pretty much every other religion throughout history has not only had multiple gods, but gods with both strengths and weaknesses of character and body.

So, really, who's the exception to the definition?

That's true in the Cinematic Universe, but in the comics, they are actual gods, complete with an afterlife and everything.

No, not Hawkeye. Hawkeye would be immortalized for wearing tights and stealing from the rich while giving to the poor.

Hawkeye would be more of a hero than a god, he lacks supernatural powers.

They'd have definitely worshiped Iron Man. Some people still do.

A physically fit superior man who can give death to a man 100's of yards a way with a stick and string? I would find that pretty God-Worthy were I a Norse Peasant.

Impressive?
Sure! But by our standards. Those old vikings probably did the same as hawkeye.
Anyway, Hawkeye's awesome, but he does not really fit in with Thor, Hulk, Iron man and Captain America. But you probably understand that.

Even in Norse mythology they weren't gods. They were mortals with access to magic and apples that gave them eternal youth.

I think that sort of depends on your definition of "god" then.

well i'm swedish i don't know much about the other nordic countries beliefs regarding the asgardians, but what i was taught in school Thor was the God of peasants and Farmers, basically worshipped by simple folk. but that's according to nordic mythology i don't know if it's the same in the universe the avengers took place.

Well if immortality and magic doesn't constitute a god, what does?

omnipotence. So neither the nordic mythology now the greek or roman mythology contain any gods, because all their powers were limited

They were by far not omnipotent. For example, when the Gods fought against the Giants, they would have lost without the help of Herakles.

i was taught that Jesus was god in human form and i was like "so your saying that god not only got a girl pregnant with out a penis but put himself inside of her." To which my teacher replied "ask of the lord and he shall deliver" and i remember being really confused with that answer.

God is supposed to be the holy trinity. Jesus, god, and the Holy spirit are all god. No one form is god, the three together make god.

so before jesus there was only the holy spirit and god so god complete then or was he only two thirds god with the human element missing or he was already completely god but just added a bit to him/her self.

The 'God' is the deity itself and Jesus was that deity's avatar or that god in human form. the spirit must be the energy that feeds the god. The spirit lives inside of humans and is fed to the god through worshiping it, which is why one of the commandments says to have no other god besides it. for that would take away its power and life. So Mind, Body, and Soul. The Mind is God, the Body is Jesus, and the soul is all of the followers of God. if we take the concept of how in Christian mythology, humans were created in the image of God and god in its entirety is the holy trinity. the trinity the mind, body, and soul. Now next is how to kill a God, take humans for example: Kill the mind and you are brain dead and a vegetable, kill the body and you are literally dead(since Jesus was revived, God did not fully manifest itself within him for he might die as well), destroy the soul and you are dead on the inside. Since humans are a miniature version a holy trinity, this shows how to kill god.
