For a ******* thing that won't move at all, Even the FJ lightbulb is much cooler than the one that spider has. There are moving watches that cost 60 usd.

>mfw I love steampunk **** but can't ever find good movies, games, books, etc.
The closest thing I read was Retribution Falls and The Black Lung Captain (which btw are very good in an action movie way)

Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends is an RTS game similar to Age of Empires that has an entire playable Steampunk race, it may tickle your fancy.

It's also a pretty solid/fun to play game anyway.

You should try out the game Vessel, it's probably the best Steampunk-themed game I've ever played along with Machinarium.

Steamboy.
Metropolis.
Howl's moving castle I guess.
Watch it if you don't mind anime movies.

Haven't watched it, but there's also Last Exile.

As for games: Dishonored is sort of steampunk. Bioshock?

Steamboy perhaps as a movie.

As for readimg I suggest Warren Ellis graphic novel "Captain Swing and the Electrical Pirates of Cindery Island"

For atompunk/dieselpunk I suggest Warren Ellis "Ignition City"

It's been mentioned, but read Leviathan, Behemoth, and Goliath by Scott Westerfeld. They're a trilogy, and they are amazing. Go. Read them.

I don't think Treasure Island counts as steampunk... Unless they use steam to power all their technology and I'd just forgotten (it's been a long time since I saw the movie)

kenneth oppel airborn. I read the first book, and i mainly liked it for his description of a huge blimp and how to fly it and stuff. It probably counts as steampunk. Got the time period, a brief description of ornicopters, and Airship Pirates. Btw, if you havent already, Abney Park has some steampunk themed songs

This isn't steampunk art, this is just copper metal work. It looks ******* awesome, don't get me wrong, but it isn't steampunk.

we learned this at steam con. there is no line to what is and isn't steampunk. it's as creative or uncreative as you can get/afford. But there is always that one asshole who will feel superior and tell everyone else what "isn't steampunk" we call those purists, and we hate you

Steampunk, as in an aesthetic, is characterized by objects that run purely on steam, and portray modern-ish technology in the way one would imagine it would look in the Victorian Era. It's not just any retro, metallurgy looking design.
