1. You would photocopy the back (top image). The blue dots would be the holes.
2. You would place the copy on the walls. The holes are in the same position as the first image.
3. You go to put the thing on, but the holes need an opposite configuration to fit.

It's like this: A right palm fits well with a left palm. Not a copy of the right palm.
