"It's no secret that the PlayStation Vita has been flagging in Japan, hitting record lows on a disappointingly consistent basis. However, thanks to Persona 4: The Golden, sales of the Vita enjoyed a sharp rise in its homeland, selling half as well as its rival, the Nintendo 3DS. Hey, it's a start." - Destructoid

Well the Wii U has the new SSB coming out sometime this year and it doesn't force social media or excess used game fees on users.

So honestly, yeah I'll probably buy one.

And a consoles generation isn't determined by it's hardware so much as release times and games.
If generations were determined by hardware the PC would be several generations ahead of every console.

The Xbox doesn't force used game fees either. Only if you want to download it to the console. How would that even work? What if I want to buy a used game from Gamestop and once I put it in my console it's going to charge me again? No. Xbox has already confirmed no used game fee.

Source? Because all the stuff I can find about the xbox and used game fees are saying it does have it. Also, you HAVE to download it to the Xbox in order to get it to play. And yes, if you got a used xbox one game at gamestop then go home and put it in, you do have to pay a fee.

From what I read Microsoft partnered with Game-stop and other retailers. I'm fairly sure they have a way of deleting the license from the account so you can trade in the disk. Which Microsoft get's a cut of, which means you'll get less for used games.

They can't possibly. They haven't got any first party devs, and are severely lacking second party devs. After halo 4 a lot of fans say it's not as good as it used to be. Gears isn't a system seller. Forza is niche.

Nintendo have tons of great franchises that are guaranteed to sell.
Sony has naughty dog, media molecule, sony santa monica, insomniac and more respected dev teams.

The problem isn't that MS can't possibly make great games, it's that they don't have any devs who have proven themselves worthy to sell systems. That and their heavy emphasis on CoD and sports means that the new console is likely to fail. Without core gamers you lose a ton of revenue. And they have done nothing but drive away core gamers.

Amazing features don't make up for bad decisions. The Xbox one could fly me to Jupiter and back for all I care. But if it can't play used games. Makes me pay for online. Costs a **** ton and won't even allow me to publish my own games. Then the flight to Jupiter seems like a flight up Uranus to me.

Microsoft actually confirmed that you can still buy and sell used games as per usual (and there are laws in the EU that mean this is a legal requirement, to which Steam are currently being sued for) via their twitter straight after the reveal. Also the Xbox will not allow indie games without publishers to go on the Xbox Live Arcade, but they will still be available via the Xbox Live Indie Games Marketplace. Undoubtably the PS4 and Xbox One will both be expensive at the time of release, with probably little difference in price so complaining about price is pointless. As for Xbox Live, you get what you pay for. The Xbox Live Marketplace, in my own experience, is much better than the PS Store, and the Xbox servers always run smoothly without delay and are very fast. Playstation on the other hand I've had loads of problems with my connection cutting out, downloads simply stopping and atrocious download speeds (even though I have very fast internet). All this coupled with their dreadful security means I am more than happy to pay the roughly £2 a month for a much better service offered on the Xbox.

Yes, but now it's been confirmed that Microsoft takes a cut of all used games sales (some sources saying that it's up to 90% of each sale). If that's the case then used games are going to way more expensive to cover the cost of all the money that Microsoft steals.

I don't see why people would refuse to buy a 3DS just because of 3D. It's like not buying a car because it has a radio; You're never forced to use it.

Anyway, indecisivejew has it right. I'd just like to add that I like it because it's something different and I want to see how developers will create games without making it a home-console version of the DS. I have nothing against ordinary controller gameplay at all, I love all my older consoles. It's just fun to play games with different controls. (Do I make sense? I dunno any more... It is a really fun console that does what nintendo has always done best; allow for good local co-op and multiplayer play and give players new and fresh experiences. The controller is absolutely great, the miiverse is cool, and the asymmetrical gameplay added with the controller is just genuinely fun.

The major problem with it is the complete lack of games. The console itself is great like I said, but right now, it has about 4 games worth owning besides ports from other systems, and one of them comes bundled with the system. By the end of this year it will be great, because we'll have Mario Kart, a 3D Mario by the Galaxy team, Smash Bros., Windwaker remake, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Warioworld, maybe Bayonetta 2, a lot of games that will be released on all platforms like Watch Dogs, Batman, and Assassin's Creed 4, plus a bunch of other previously unknown stuff that will undoubtedly be announced at E3.

TL;DR great system with nogaems that will get games at end of year

I really don't understand why people are so bitchy about this. "OMG, they didn't show gameplay its all I wanted." Stop crying over it. You'll see game-play at E3, the release was based around the console and it's new functions. So of course they are going to show off the new stuff that the console is capable of instead of blasting you with a couple hours of gameplay that shows nothing other than the games.

I mean really, are we this simple? Of course the ******* console is going to play video games. I for one look forward to skype, especially if it can be used to talk to someone playing PC. I like the Xbox controller the way it is so I'm grateful it wasn't changed. As for the whole kinect stuff, its not going to be spying on you, so stop being a bunch of paranoid jackasses.

In the case of backwards compatibility, PS3 isn't capable of it either so stop using it as fodder. We already pay for online so its nothing new. You're not going to be charged for used games, there is no way they could actually do that without overstepping some boundaries. You won't have to have it activated every 24 hours either, that would be idiotic for them to assume people can get on their console that frequently.

So in short, you're all being completely unreasonable and jumping to conclusions.

Well yeah, of course its going to play video games. Its going to play FIFA and Madden and Call of Duty. All things that are going to be offered on PS4, which is clearly designed around playing those games instead of acting as a middle man for a cable box that I already pay for and use to watch TV. And so far, they have shown zero gameplay for any exclusives, while Sony had already shown gameplay for 5 exclusives all the way back in February.

You're being thumbed down because you did not make any valid points. You simply cried more that gameplay wasn't shown. There are several months before the console is released, you'll see plenty of gameplay in that amount of time.

"I guess its not cool to hate on Xbone anymore despite nothing about it changing."

This right here is another example of your red thumbs. "not cool to hate" this shows me that you simply jumped along the band wagon and assumed you'd get green thumbs by hating on the console.

"Xbone" is yet another reason you are getting red thumbs. Any valid reason you may have possibly came up with is instantly nullified by the use of immature pet names.

My point being, you need to grow up a little before returning to reply to me. When you are able to string together sentences that don't indicate that you have yet to graduate from the need for thumbs then I'll feel fit to acknowledge your opinion.

I don't care that I got thumbed down. I was just pointing out how moronic it was that I have so many people disagreeing with the same points that I have been getting praise for in every other xbox related post I've commented on here and on other sites.

I also fail to see how citing the fact that no gameplay was shown is not a valid point. Surely it is no less a legitimate point than the one that you are trying to make. "You'll see plenty of gameplay in that amount of time" Praising the console for something that you assume its creators will do is idiotic. The only rational way to examine the console and its potential is to analyze the information that has been given to us officially.

Lastly, I don't think that taking into account the maturity level of a person whom you have never met in an argument that is not even slightly related to the person is any more mature than using a simple abbreviation. An argument is based on facts and well-formed opinions, not on unfounded slander of the opposing party, especially when the opposing party is a person that you know nothing about.

It does have to connect every 24 hours. The vice president of Microsoft himself confirmed it.

And while it doesn't charge for used games, they demand money from game retailers every time a used game is sold (some articles say they demand 90% of the money made), which will surely bring up the price of used games because gamestop and the like need more than 10%.

Here's some more stuff we don't like about the XBOne:

You cannot play used games, if you put them in your system you have to play the full retail price to play them.

You need to connect to the internet once a day. Not only that, but the XBOne allows games to require a constant internet connection. All of this for singleplayer.

If the Kinect is removed or broken, you cannot play on the console. You need it to play on a console.

This is just a portion of the problems with the XBOne.

First link, right in the text itself. Try reading your articles.
"although that hasn’t been confirmed yet"

Here's the problem as well. From what I see people here think that the console will magically stop working if they aren't connected. I can tell you this right now. The "connection required" is most likely going to be for downloads and updates. You will be able to play as much as you like offline, the console will not magically stop working if you do not connect.

Along this as well, if you play games as much as you let on then this should not be a problem. Every time I go onto my Xbox, I allow it to connect automatically. So needing to be connected every so often is not a real problem. Again, my conclusion is that you are simply overreacting and making groundless assumptions.

None of my "assumptions" have been groundless. They all have their bases in things members of Microsoft have said. The connection required is once every 24 hours, which has come from something a Microsoft member has said. Many people don't have access to internet connections, and what if your internet goes down, or Microsoft's servers are down? You then cannot play on even singleplayer games for each day until they fix the servers or you get Internet access.

Not once have I said that the XBOne will stop working without an internet connection. What I have said is that you need to login once every 24 hours, and if problems occur which prevent you from doing so, you can't go on your "console".

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that its not true. These statements were made by Microsoft VPs directly after their conference. The only thing he got wrong was that the actual quote said that you would need to connect to the internet about every 24 hours for single player use, so it isn't technically always online.

I'll say the same thing I said for indecisivejew. Your use of names like "Xbone" nullifies the validity of your statements. I don't care what you have to say until you can hold a mature and reasonable discussion.

Sure, its true that these things have appeared in discussions, it does not make them 100%. For you to actually believe some of the information you are looking at to be true to a key is sad in itself. Microsoft is not going to risk their stock and sales to simply hold more control over the gamers.

So you're going to throw away an entire argument because of an abbreviation? Are abbreviations now an automatic indicator om immaturity? I'm guessing the use of them in chemical formulas is immature, right? Or algebra? Seriously, get a grip.

These things haven't "appeared in discussions". They've been explicitly stated by Microsoft members. And it's already too late for your last sentence: the XBOne has had massive negativity, everywhere, and I'm really not joking, during it's reveal, Sony sales skyrocketed.

Calling it XBone is exactly the same as calling the previous console the XB360. It is not immature in the slightest, and it in know way invalidates any points. Have you just never argued on the internet or something? You seem to have very little grasp on how people actually communicate and how actual points are made. And, as you clearly were not paying close enough attention to the microsoft news, I feel somewhat obligated to inform you that all of his statements were confirmed to be at the least strong possibilities for the console by Xbox VPs. The near-constant internet connection for single player use was confirmed in a Kotaku interview and the used game and kinect connectivity were detailed in an interview done by Adam Sessler for Rev3 games.

Why give the console poor ratings just from unconfirmed things?

Sony had 3 months to fully say Yes or No to used games, and we STILL don't believe they're going to go through with it.

The Kinect isn't essential to working the console. In fact, the only confirmed thing is that every console comes with the Kinect and that it reaches its full potential whilst plugged in.

The specs are the exact same as the PS4, however, the PS4's specs were only presumed. The guys presenting the ******* thing didn't even know what the PS4 was. Just look at them presenting the controller "This is.. The.. PS4 *looks at it for a 3rd time* Controller... As you can *looks at it again* see.." Seriously, the guy didn't even know why he was there.

If you don't like it so much, don't ******* complain about it, don't buy it, and don't spread rumors about it, because it makes you worse than the actual Console War fags.

Actually the PS4 has a better GPU and a RAM twice as fast.

I'm not trying to be oppositional so please don't think anything of this. I just want to let you know that we do know most of the specs for all of the systems (obviously for the Wii U).

The only thing thats bumming me out about the PS4 so far is the lack of backwards compatibility. I also want a decent amount of storage. I got an 80 GB PS3 for my birthday 4 years ago and it ran out of space in almost exactly one year. I'd hate to run into that problem again.

Sony confirmed that PS4 will play used games with no interference months ago

www.giantbomb.com/playstation-3/3045-35/forums/sony-confirms-ps4-will-play-used-games-577915/

Also, they confirmed that the Xbox One will not function without the Kinect plugged in. It must be connected and on in order for the console to work

And actually, they went over specs in much greater detail in the Sony conference, and it has more GPU, a much higher peak shading throughput, and more system memory bandwith.

As for "If you don't like it so much, don't ******* complain about it", I actually have no idea what to say. That might actually be the dumbest thing I've ever read. Do you eve know what complaining is? Do you understand that you were doing it by typing that comment?
