One thing I hate more than a shitty tattoo, is an artist that does a tattoo when they know they don't have the skills to fill the request. ESPECIALLY when they get part way into it and it looks like this and they visibly see how terrible it will turn out. Fuck those guys/girls

If you're too cheap to invest in a skilled tattoo artist with a solid portfolio, then I don't feel bad for you when you get shitty ink. Money's money; it's not the artist's job to babysit folks that don't want to pony up the cash for quality work.

i personally dont like seeing other tattoo enthusiasts end up with a crappy tattoo because an artist doesnt have the chops but wont admit it.

I feel like if you're a "tattoo enthusiast," you probably have enough experience to be able to tell from an artist's portfolio what their basic skill set is. Why get a permanent addition to your body without being discerning? I wouldn't get this tattoo shown here without seeing some previous high-quality, realistic skull work from the artist, for instance. You usually wouldn't want to be a practice canvas unless you really don't care what you're getting.

Then again, I'm apparently picky as fuck.

problem is that sometimes tattoo artists pad their portfolios. helps bring in business and if someone asks for a tattoo they cant do they quote a ridiculous price to change their ming. its a real problem in recent years.

Yea, but it is still the artist's duty to say hey I can't do it the way the picture says. You get what you pay for, but keep in mind this isn't a product. This is something on your body for life.
