My 20'th birthday is tomorrow, and I feel ya, but it doesn't bother me that much. Just live your life man, why bother thinking about the end, it's gonna come when it comes. Anyways, Happy late birthday man!

I consider ages 1-20 more of a "tutorial mode"

I am 24 and I just thought about this a few weeks ago...

23 here, and yeah I feel it too. Esepecially because I waited a bit to go to college. Everyone I graduated HS with are now done with college, started families, careers, and such, and I just became a junior in college...

Growing up is a privilege denied to many.

Dude, i know that feel. I just recently turned 19, and i thought, "Holy **** , next year i will be 20. Times gone by fast, i need to do something with my life!"

We are kind of very unlucky.

Within 200 years, people will be more machine than human. We'll be immortal.

Scientists have ideas of how to create a device that provides energy, hormones, repair brain tissue, provide oxygen, etc to the brain. All the organs in our body will be replaced with this device. Our muscles will be replaced with non biological devices to move our limbs. Our skin replaced with non biological material.

We wont have to eat, drink, pee, poo, etc. We wont be able to get diseases of any kind, as our brain will be the only organ that is left (Since that is all we really are). The brain will completely isolated from the outside world.

If born just 200 years later, you could live forever, have a house on another star's planet with some hot alien chick, etc.

The brain isn't meant to function that long, even if there isn't anything wrong with it.

They have an idea as to why we age. In 200 years we would definitely be able to stop aging.

User avatar #54 to #51 - djequalizee (05/26/2013) [-]
Yeah, but like i said, the brain isn't made to withstand 200 years. That's like overloading your C:/ drive.
#56 to #54 - billybeee (05/26/2013) [-]
The brain wasn't made, it evolved. If we make it so that it can be immortal, then it can be whatever we want it to be.
User avatar #57 to #56 - djequalizee (05/26/2013) [-]
The brain wasn't randomly evolved at birth. Brains at this point in time can only be sane for so long. If you lived for an infinite amount of time you would most likely go insane.

I just live day to day, even though it probably isn't the best way to make it to retirement, not having a secure plan to spend my days comfortably when I cant work as hard anymore... but

its about the journey, not the destination.

you could die tomorrow, and wish you lived to the fullest and as stress free as possible now, enjoying everything you experience. I try to just focus on the little happy moments, no matter how small, and make it the focal point of the day, even if it was stressful.

Making a few smart decisions on the way can ensure you have something to fall back on in old age as well. Just my 2 cents though. Im only 24, and still don't know what I'm doing in the end.

Don't forget that the easiest part of your life is behind you..and possible the best.

You've had 20 years to do things and experience the results. now you have a fresh new pack of another 20 years so that you can do what you never did or stop doing what you know you shouldn't be doing.

The third quarter is the most important.
It's where you are trying to get to.

when I turned 18 I was like "YEAH I CAN HAVE BEER NOW" now that I'm 24 I'm like "WHAT, I HAVE TO STOP DRINKING BEER AND GROW UP?"
User avatar #34 to #30 - lorddrake (05/25/2013) [-]
You can drink beer and grow up at the same time.

It just hit me. I probably have finished a third of my life already.

oh man, it feels like it was yesterday i was sitting outside at night, smoking weed with my friends, celebrating that we were finally done with school.
And now i never see them, they got girlfriends/boyfriends,studies,jobs, and their own apartments long away from me.
Then there is me, that guy who wanna stay friends with them, but apparently can't keep up with them.
They have outgrown me.

i'm 22, I dont think too much about the future, and take one day at a time. never worried about the future because when something goes bad, compensate for it or improvise.
