Laughing at Americans and their 'calculus' and 'geometry' and 'algebra'.
We have these subjects in Europe too, but we group them all together and call them 'maths'.
Because we're not dumb ***** who need to separate each part of maths out into separate subjects.

The problem is in HS we are told if we dont go to college well have a ****** life. School doesnt prepare people enough for life.

-Be Senior year of HS 2006
-everyone getting there school acceptance letters "UC's, CSU's etc..."
-they make fun of everyone going into community college or joining the military saying well have lame lives making no money and will live life poor.
-everyone feels bad man
-work hard get A.A degree and join military
-fast forward 2012, leave ARMY get hired by Fire Department
-making great money, taking care of family
-find out people from HS get degrees and work dead end job, others got kicked out for partying to much and work dead end job.
-Old HS chums find out how much im making with A.A degree get angry
-say im a drug dealer
-At work getting pizza hut with the guy at the station
-clerk turns around
-old HS bully/nemesis who got kicked out of college for fighting

I can't doubt that's real. I'm actually studying but what I hope to do with my knowledge is not working FOR somebody. I actually would like to help people and keep humble in every part of my life. That's why people should really decide to study...there are tons of ways to earn money, but going to college isn't that necessary (out of universities propaganda)

What College or rather University is really like

"Its not about the money its about getting the diploma"

THIS **** IS SO ******* STUPID
#160 to #158 - anonymous (05/24/2013) [-]
same anon here
just saying this points out a huge problem with the way college is perceived. You don't go to college because it's the next step.
You have an ambition, or an aspiration to be something, like an engineer or some **** . So you go through high school and graduate, and with the ultimate goal of being whatever, you enter college. then you work towards mastering your craft.
Do you think people just became apprentices for blacksmiths, carpenters, masons and **** and then changed their apprenticeship all willy nilly?
no. **** you. don't just go to college because you've been told it's the next step. IT IS NOT THE NEXT STEP. Your own ambitions might not even require a diploma.

They can hear, and see what you're visually thinking. This is the absolute complete truth!!!!!

The reason a lot of Asians have completely expressionless faces is so they don't accidentally show facial expressions when people think things they don't like, find funny, astonishing, etc, and Asians segregate so their not nearly as susceptible to that happening.
Asians also segregate, and are untalkative to avoid accidentally saying things that are similar to what people are thinking and going to say.

Try thinking, and visually picturing things that are as wild as you can when you are around Asians, and look for Asians who give people dirty/particular looks for what appears to be for completely no reason.

I am terrified for the collage years. I know i am going to collage, but i don't know where, what i want to major in, or what i want to do after. Ugh i will need to figure this out...

Doesn't matter
User avatar #136 to #135 - tigersstripes (05/24/2013) [-]
It really depends. You see, i go to a "school for the gifted" in which you don't actually have to be smart, they just work your ass off in prep for collage. Only 5 out of the 200+ graduating class are undecided about collage. This school will look ******* fantastic on a collage/work resume, right? Well collage is the same way, for many, and with job markets so off, i want the best chance i can get.
The reason going to collage is important to me is because of the line of work i (and many friends) are looking to get in to, medicine, thermo-something-or-other, teaching, astronomy, etc. A job we will enjoy and that will be able to support us and our family.
I know that the next few years are going to be a lot of decisions that i don't feel ****** enough to make, is all.

Thesis? For an undergrad degree?

I'm missing something. :S
User avatar #152 to #126 - mexicanfood (05/24/2013) [-]
Some colleges require one such as mine.
#185 to #152 - jiltist (05/25/2013) [-]
Really? How bizarre....
User avatar #188 to #185 - mexicanfood (05/25/2013) [-]
It depends on the major, I'm majoring in History with a minor in Computer Science. I have to write a paper (a long ass one) for my final project/major requirement.

This is different for other majors such as the Comp Sci major which could be building a database, creating a program, or a website, but it would have to combine all three.

The Economics major is different as well and so on.

However I see it as beneficial and it forces you to utilize the skill you've learned into real world practical ideals.
#190 to #188 - jiltist (05/25/2013) [-]
Oh, this makes sense.

So I take it that it's not quite a Master's work thesis, but a work which should still encompass all or much of what's been learned in the undergrad coursework?

Purdue has something like this with engineering students - there is a senior year engineering course which is mandatory and requires that the undergrad team up with a few other undergrads and engineer something new.
