That is not a pick axe that is a mattock.

What does a pickaxe look like then?

What's the difference?

I'm a horticulturalist. A pickaxe is used for mining and this is meant for gardening. A mattock is used to cut and destroy roots that are deep and hard to get out. The "pickaxe" side is used to sever and cut and dig out roots when the flatter thicker size is used to pull and pry, also used to hack. It's really used however it CAN be used. Everyone uses it differently but thats my take on it. I use it at my work.

I'm not him, and i'm not entirely sure, but my guess is that pickaxe probably has the points on both ends.
