So if I waste my life studying something that guarantees I'll never be able to do anything but teach, I might occasionally get a slight chuckle out of it?
Well sign me the **** up, because this just sounds like the dream life doesn't it?

Those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. It isn't saying you need to devote your life to it, physics is a very worthy cause. However you still need to understand and know history just if nothing else, understand the world around you.

The bloody **** is happening with this thread. When I first got involved the only thumbs were on Lilstow and they were red and about 14. Then I came back and my comment above was in the red by 30, Lilstow was in the positive by about that much, and my other comment on this thread was in the green, now I come back and everything is reversed.

Apparently, I mean even if it is a controversial thing, I highly doubt close to 100 people went on opposite thumbing sprees.

Yea somebody here is really butthurt.
If I feel like it, I might proxy this thing around sometime later, just to spite them.
But honestly, I probably will be too busy studying something worth my time to do that.

If that's all you think history is good for, you're an extremely ignorant person. The only way to correctly insult you meaningfully is to call you a ******* idiot. ******* idiot. It's people like you that contribute to the ********** that is an uneducated world.

Not to sound ignorant or anything, but what CAN you do with a History major? I'm headed to college next year, and I was just curious as to what I could do with it.

out of 100 psychology students, how many do you think find a decent job? plus I'm assuming your mom is >40, in her time it was way easier get a job since there were no baby boomers getting old and not letting their job go.

What are some careers that you could get solely with a maths major other than teaching or financing?

mathematics majors are helpful in almost every career. It helps you in programming, finance, statistician, you use mathematics to DJ 4DM1Nistrate the budget of large corporations, etc.

Solely
I realize that it helps with all those, the program I wish to get into has a maths degree with the computer science one, I don't see how it should be god tier though. It's useful, but I imagine there are better ones if you only get a single degree

Also, the advantage of Math and Physics is that if you study them you can pretty much do anything you want.
All you need to do is specialize in something.

As vatra said, Math and Physics literally built the world we lived in.
Isaac Newton basically dragged us out of the mud.

And back in Greek times, philosophers were incredibly important, but it is in the **** tier. I realize math is important, but I'm just confused as to what kind of jobs would solely require a math degree

Philosophy was only important because it had the highest level of academic standing in a world where basically everyone was retarded.
There was also a time where Alchemy was thought to be a legitimate science.
Philosophy is **** tier now because it doesn't have any real use to society like real science does.
Worth noting is that Philosophy is technically a science because they follow the scientific method. However, just because you follow the scientific method, doesn't mean that you should be respected as a scientist.
