Me too, it was such a tacked on logic though like the creators were like "Wait... we forgot that we made them all female.. WHAT DO?!"

Here's how it goes:
The asari are really gender neutral, as in they have both cells to make a child, they just need to be sexually stimulated to do so, but they have genitalia that closely resembles that of the females, only blue, and they can mate with anyone and the child will be a mix of both asari and whatever the other parent was
Liara was a pure born because both of her parents were asari, which meant not only did she have two mommies, but she was the pinnacle of what the asari are, with no different genes, only asari
I know way to much about alien reproduction cycles

well technically they aren't a mix the mother asari simply randomizes her own genetic sequence and takes the best sequences from the mate...otherwise Liara would be a quarter Krogan
