The A&F guy isn't retarded, he just doesn't want to glorify being fat. He's actually the only one who isn't tiptoeing around the issue.

That is all.

I think his message was dickish, especially the way he said it. He said he only wants cool kids wearing his clothes, implying that fat people can't be cool. In my high school there were a couple guys who were fat and they knew it; they didn't try to hide it or sugarcoat it (pardon the pun). They were hilarious and actually made fun of their fatness and everyone loved em anyway

How the **** do you have so many thumbs? I completely disagree with your comment, I think the guy is an inconsiderate scumbag and I don't see how that many people agree with you. A lot of people are born fat because it's in their genes, they were born with an endomorph body type. Sure, they could find a way to lose the weight but it would be ridiculously challenging. Other people just straight up like to eat, what's wrong with that? It might be unhealthy for them, but it's not hurting anyone else and they already have a huge amount of insecurity to deal with. This Abercrombie dude just shattered a bunch of people's self esteem and you're defending him. ******** .

Also, I'm 5'11 and weigh 135 so don't think I'm some overweight kid who's all butthurt.
User avatar #367 to #11 - smisk (05/18/2013) [-]
The biggest difference between being fat and smoking is that your overweight just harms yourself, whilst smoking harms others in your vicinity. I'm pretty tired of the two always being compared as 'equally bad' when they are not.
User avatar #335 to #11 - badhatharry (05/18/2013) [-]
I don't get why everybody's so butthurt about it; sure it's hypocritical but he obviously knows how he wants to market his own product.
User avatar #289 to #11 - rockamekishiko (05/18/2013) [-]
didn't he say he didn't want ugly people using his **** either?
User avatar #272 to #11 - snaresinger (05/18/2013) [-]
It's true that humans have a huge problem with being overweight that is detrimental to healthcare and the world food supply, but that's really not the point. The point is that the guy is an unbearable prick about it, and isn't leading the campaign for health purposes. He's leading it because he's arrogant. Just saying.
#199 to #11 - anonymous (05/18/2013) [-]
Yeah, but he also only wants "cool kids" to wear his clothing. They also didn't use black people to advertise their clothing until like 2005.

He is douchbag maximus.
User avatar #184 to #11 - discomelon (05/18/2013) [-]
There is no actual evidence connecting weight to health. Take John Pinnette for example, the man is like 350 pounds and healthy as a horse. Being fat doesn't kill you, but the same things that cause fat (greasy/unhealthy junk food) can give you high cholesterol and diabetes; correlation =/= causation.
User avatar #156 to #11 - marinamusera (05/18/2013) [-]
Since when selling plus size clothes is glorifying being fat???
Tons of thinks are unhealthy. Being thin isn't necessarily healthy. He just doesn't wanna make plus size clothes because he doesn't like how fat people looks, not because is unhealthy.
User avatar #242 to #156 - crazyhindu (05/18/2013) [-]
Plot twist: A:F ceo is making himself look like an ass so he gives fats something to strive for and hopefully get, making Murica less fat one roll at a time.
User avatar #345 to #242 - admiralen ONLINE (05/18/2013) [-]
actually it just makes the dumbasses mad (not all fat people are dumbasses, but he makes the stupid ones mad) and then they wont do **** but complain.
User avatar #386 to #345 - crazyhindu (05/18/2013) [-]
Yeah. But seriously though does anyone wear A;F stuff anymore?
User avatar #388 to #386 - admiralen ONLINE (05/18/2013) [-]
faggots probably will now, just to support their misslead views that fat people are horrible

well what about really tall people, who need big clothes?
User avatar #79 to #11 - schwerdaddy (05/18/2013) [-]
Unsold A&F clothing gets burned rather than donated to the homeless because he believes the homeless will ruin his company's looks. If the unfortunate were to wear his clothes then they wouldn't be cool anymore.
User avatar #390 to #79 - swimmingprodigy ONLINE (05/18/2013) [-]
Louis Vuitton burns all of its unsold bags at the end of the year....
#336 to #79 - lolkizza (05/18/2013) [-]
A&F isnt the only company that burns clothing that isnt sold, most high end fashions do that, the only difference is A&F are the only ones that openly said it. its all about marketing and image, shameful as it is, its the way to maintain high image standard
User avatar #387 to #336 - schwerdaddy (05/18/2013) [-]
Oh I don't doubt that for a second. There are just a bunch of reasons for hating the A&F guy right now:
1. It's the popular thing right now. Just like with Kony, everyone is focusing their hate on one person while atrocities happen everywhere. At least there is a focus on something instead of complete ignorance.
2. He is publicly displaying his douchebaggery with pride. We all know there are tons of assholes in this world, but most at least keep it to themselves instead of flaunting it.
3. People like to laugh because of the irony. He is ugly as **** .
4. Also, it's Abercrombie and Fitch. It's not what millionaires wear. It's what upper-middle class teenagers think is cool. The owner thinks too highly of his own company. There are many "cooler" brands out there.
#57 to #11 - mrloki (05/17/2013) [-]
**mrloki rolled a random image posted in comment #114 at LotR: Just logical people ** while I believe it's his right not to sell clothes to fat ppl, as I believe it's his right not to sell clothes to gays or blacks, I still believe he's retarded for not selling it to everyone that can pay and by expressing it on the media
#53 to #11 - anonymous (05/17/2013) [-]
Except... no, dude. It's not.

Plus, all he said was that all fat people are ugly.
User avatar #41 to #11 - neokun (05/17/2013) [-]
Its not that he does not want fat people buying his stuff, its that he only wants the "cool" kids and you cannot be ugly. When its just ******* hilarious as he is the ugliest piece of **** I have seen in a long time.
User avatar #76 to #41 - kasperscar (05/18/2013) [-]
He wasn't ugly before the accident.

the botox accident?

Thank you, It actual made me feel better.
User avatar #18 to #11 - GhostOfRavenclaw (05/17/2013) [-]
People found him hypocritical as he said he didn't want anyone who wasn't good looking wearing the clothing line while he himself is quite ugly
User avatar #122 to #18 - residentblackman (05/18/2013) [-]
He's 70 and has a long history of botox and ****
User avatar #50 to #18 - luidias (05/17/2013) [-]
all that shows me is that he's legitimately using the "good-looking people only" policy as a business strategy, and he's removed himself from the equation. I'm pretty certain the man knows how ugly he is.
User avatar #40 to #18 - blacklite (05/17/2013) [-]
Fat and ugly are different things.
User avatar #171 to #40 - guymandude (05/18/2013) [-]
though he did say both fat people and ugly people shouldn't be in his clothes. It's not just something people are inferring. In fact I believe I remember him saying something about facial symmetry.

Also he is specifically against people of certain income levels being able to purchase A&F clothes. In fact he even kept his prices at their normal high level through the 2008 market crash, causing his potential customer base to decrease even further. His strategies haven't exactly resulted in too much success either.

TL;DR he's definitely an asshole, just not for making clothes only for the physically fit.
User avatar #338 to #171 - trollwoopnazi (05/18/2013) [-]
It's a pretty good tactic in some ways (only making clothes for the slim and attractive) People will be more attracted to buying these over other high street clothes as others will know they had to meet a slim criteria to buy them

It would only be hypocritical if he wore his own companies clothes and/or if there was an objective standard for looks
User avatar #46 to #31 - GhostOfRavenclaw (05/17/2013) [-]
he does wear the clothes
User avatar #14 to #11 - cupcakescankill (05/17/2013) [-]
It's not just fat people. He doesn't want anyone without washboard abs wearing their clothing.
