This is a skewed fact at best. All Swiss men are conscripted (women can volunteer) into militia service and are required to keep their equipment at home (ie guns). Even then 29% of households are armed, not 50%, lower that the 43% rate of the US. The military conscription, the fact that they are the wealthiest country per capita or even the fact they have a lot of chocolate are just as likely to be the reasons for the lower crime rate.

Switzerland has low crime rate and few Americans living there
America has high crime rate and many Americans living there
Americans = crime

This isn't even true. But i guess, they have the lowest crime rate because they are one of the most educated countries in the world. And because the unemployment rate is pretty damn low.

yes but those one in two citizens are also part of the army reserves. all men between 16 and i think 45 do 2 weekends a month armed service and keep guns at home. but the guns are property of the swiss army.

Doesn't change the fact that the gunloving US has one of the highest crimerates in the world.

Maybe it is because they don't go pretending to be some god damn world police?

It's because Switzerland makes best watches and when everyone is on time, it makes people less irritated. Also, chocolate is supposed to be as good as sex, so less people are walking around feeling pissed about the no sex.

Education+ Unemployment rates are a big factor in crime.

PS, does Switzerland have its version of chavs?

It could also be because our cops take no **** ! Also as a criminal here you have no rights, barely even any human rights. You just need to look at the police in a funny way and they will beat the **** out of you, without any repercussions. They generally don't, but thats just because they know, you know they can and will!

When it comes to better health care, education etc, conservatives on this site say "what works in that country doesn't work here"

When it comes to guns, "stay mad libs"

I don't believe that the size of your country has anything to do with the quality of your education system. Switzerland spends roughly the same percentage of our GDP on the military as the US does. I think that the problem is that your education system hasn't changed that much since it was created, the content has been updated but the methods of teaching have not. Also there is lack of depth of knowledge when it comes to learning about the world outside the borders of the USA, I believe this to again be from the outdated teaching style used.

Norway still has the lowest murder rate though as far as I remember. Even with the "Templar Knight" who had his fun.

And they have 25% households with firearms in them (for hunting purposes)
