Yeah, too bad some Russian laws are PRO certain groups, IN DETRIMENT of others.

For instance, thanks to the strong Christian-Orthodox background, homosexuality is almost punishable by law (there have been strong anti-gay meetings in Moscow, "advertising gay lifestyle" IS punishable by law, etc etc etc)

ADVERTISING . I dont see anyting WRONG with that . I dont go around saying how hardcore Hetero i am do i ? If i do i will be mocked by the You need to login to view this link my knowlege they dont go chasing gay people with forks and stakes . They just dont let promotion . You can promote your sexuality(that includes HETERO) all you want from inside the safety of your home and aslong as it is away from public eyes and ears .

Actually its not . It just stops you from looking like a retard in public eye and keeps a decency to your actions . It doesn’t stop you from discussing it , it doesn’t stop you from being gay . It stops you from being a Queer and run around butt-naked shouting how gay you are and fabulous you think you look like .
I don't think this restricts free speech in any way , it restricts idiocy .

If you read my other post as well . I gave a reason for that .
"Russia is an Christian Orthodox country , anything pro-gay would make a fuss . Putin does not and will not risk the consistency of the whole country for 300k people . If they are not happy they can move away .He has to care for the 130+Million people in poverty first . "
You guys are really narrow sighted . You never think of the consequences of once actions .
So much more when they have an effect of a whole nation . You think this is just a hate game ?Well its not .

So how will you eliminate the "Russia is an Christian Orthodox country , anything pro-gay would make a fuss ." factor ?

Remember Russia is still getting its legs back on the ground , its a very delicate time for the country . Putin is trying to do the unthinkable .He tries to raise the educational level along with the life level to Europe standards and above .He is succeeding, but the scale is so huge that the slightest internal dispute could make the whole country go into chaos .Also the whole economy crisis doesn’t help as well .You do realize the size of Russia is almost the size of Europe.

PS. Eliminating Religion. Not an option . I don’t think we need to go into detail on this . It is just not POSIBLE. Even the slightest nudge on the church and the thing could go civil war in less than a months time.

...what if by "promoting" also means "fighting for same rights"?...
User avatar #40 to #39 - mhden (05/13/2013) [-]
If i was the leader of a country , the "rights" of the minority would mean nothing to me .
Isn’t that what he also said before . If gay people want special rules they can always move to a different country .Putin has much more important things to deal with , like .. i don’t know .. the oils .. the natural gas .. maybe the economy , and he has to deal with those without causing wars *cough*America take a hint *cough*
Russia has a huge poverty problem .
What do you think is more important ?gay rights , or the health of the people .
(And before you say something like , why not both .. let me remind you that the average Russian is really religious and not the .. lets say .. brightest of sparks .. Having riots about the gay rights isn’t good for a country trying to get back on its legs by the efforts of one man that must care and understand the minds and hearts of millions of people ...that is what a leader really is*cough*Obama take a hint*cough*)

You know the difference between the economy problems and human rights?

The human rights issues can be solved with the flick of a wrist and the swoosh of a pen on a paper.
User avatar #43 to #41 - mhden (05/13/2013) [-]
a flick of a wrist ? Mankind has been fighting for millennia for those rights to mean anything and you belittle the subject like that ?
Everything that man signs has a consequence . Russia is an Christian Orthodox country , anything pro-gay would make a fuss . Putin does not and will not risk the consistency of the whole country for 300k people . If they are not happy they can move away .He has to care for the 130+Million people in poverty first .
