He's also an incredibly corrupt politician with Ultranationalist and homophobic beliefs who has bought his way into politics through manipulating the USSR's collapse, the mob and maybe even rigging elections... Not sure I'd start waving my banner in his support just yet.

His rise to power is very similar to that of Hitler's, he makes people scared of things they don't understand and uses it to create hate. Bush did the same in the post 9/11 era to bring in Guantanamo Bay and start the Iraq war

couldn't agree more. The kid from Ukraine in my class is the most homophobic kid I know. He loves to preach how Russia sends the gays to Syria and wants to sink them all in the ocean

Damn Eastern Ukrainians. (I really hope he is from the East).

But then again, my family isn't the most tolerant of gays either.

Good job, guys. There is no record of him ever saying the text that is posted.

However, he did say the following:
"We must create the conditions for immigrants to normally integrate into our society, learn Russian and, of course, respect our culture and traditions and abide by Russian law. In this regard, I believe that the decision to make learning the Russian language compulsory and DJ 4DM1Nister exams is well grounded. To do so, we will need to carry out major organisational work and introduce corresponding legislative amendments."

Not to mention his admiration of Stalin as well as his changing Russian history to show a more 'positive' version for students.
Not that you won't find the same **** anywhere else, and not that bad people can't say good things too. People just have to be careful not to let one quotation sum up the personality/character of a person.

While it is fundamentally flawed, what's so evil about utilitarianism?

I said Ultra nationalism not utilitarianism

I assume that you don't live in Russia and also have no idea how things there are done, EVERY politician there is corrupt and at least Putin is trying to do what's best for the country and not for his own pockets. He's a great president and the few radical opinions that he has don't change that. And comparing him to Hitler means that you don't know **** about the situation there. You should do some more more research before posting ignorant comments m8..
#370 to #283 - anonymous (05/13/2013) [-]
If you knew even a small amount about Russian Politics youd know that Russias economic recovery was if anything harmed by Putin's rise to and continued power, and it is actually Yeltsin that made Russia have effective reform.
User avatar #388 to #370 - anusraper (05/13/2013) [-]
I am russian btw, so i think i know more then you about that ;) but you are entitled to your own opinion..
#441 to #388 - anonymous (05/13/2013) [-]
simply being Russian does not make you informed about Russian politics.
#490 to #441 - anonymous (05/13/2013) [-]
And you're the informed one? There is no record of the posted text ever being said. If the gullibility demonstrated here is any indication, it shows that general opinion of Putin, and non-Western leaders in general, is often terribly distorted, misinformed, and prejudiced.

#111 to #46 - anonymous (05/13/2013) [-]
No doubt he's a horrible human and politician, but that does not make what he said any less valid.
#103 to #46 - anonymous (05/13/2013) [-]
And any other politician is any better, everyone has ulterior motives at least Putin understands how to succeed now if they could just pull themselves out of the debt they are in from the cold war, and Hitler brought back Germany's economy from the brink but he took it to far with war, and the fine line that we need to succeed and becoming corrupt needs to be established.

i doubt everyone who doesn't like gays is homophobic, people just like yelling out "homophoric hurr durr". No one is scared of gays except the clothing industry.

God i hope you aren't from America, because everything that Putin said in that speech is against the fundamental standards that the US holds.
That anyone should be able to make a living regardless of where they started in life, who cares what language they speak they have the right to be alive and make a living.
Putin is laying the groundwork to set himself up as a second Stalin, now i doubt it would ever get as bad as the USSR thanks to national intervention, but fascist and Ubernational Communist states have always started out with distrust towards foreigners and consolidation of power into a tiny group of people or one man.
I will give Putin this, he has lowered crime rates by 33% since 2004, but even with that it is still double what it is in the US.
#553 to #262 - anonymous (05/14/2013) [-]

User avatar #321 to #262 - Jameshaich (05/13/2013) [-]
No, i'm not from America.
I'm not so concerned about him, or the man behind what he said.
More or less, what he said in general is quite a valid point about "Should respect _____ Laws. if they do not like **** off"
I'm from the UK. you come through customs, you should take off your burka or turban. don't kick up a fuss (Which happens a lot) or complain about British life. Police officers were forced to remove the Union Jack from their uniforms as it was deemed offensive by immigrants.

I know little about Putin.
User avatar #337 to #321 - infiniteduress (05/13/2013) [-]
thank you for an educated response
the problem i have with this speech is that he straight up calls minorities primitive, as if they can't take care of themselves without Russian support, this is ubernationalist and frankly insults all other nations.
as to "respect our laws or gtfo" i couldn't agree more, the whole point of government is to make laws that keep people safe and happy, culture shock is not a valid excuse to undermine government.
whether or not national defense is undermined by some people wearing turbans i don't know enough to make an educated comment
but officers should be able to wear their own ******* flag and show some ******* pride in the country whose citizens they risk their lives to protect. the offended parties can go **** themselves sideways with a jackhammer
User avatar #344 to #337 - Jameshaich (05/13/2013) [-]
I don't Agree with what he's saying to an extent. He makes Russia out to be better than the rest, as if it's never had problems in the past and that it's perfect. Far from it.
and thank you for an educated response too.
User avatar #308 to #262 - nebuchadnezzaurus (05/13/2013) [-]
I don't think he meant "restriction of rights for minorities", but rather "equal rights for everyone, regardless of their social or ethnic standing". In other words, not to adhere to the many minorities' claims, but rather to maintain laws that ensure everyone is in equal position, regardless of whether they belong to a minority.
User avatar #319 to #308 - infiniteduress (05/13/2013) [-]
your point is undermined by two problems
first, he refers to minorities as having a lack of culture and being primitive
and second, Supralicious the site this is from is a site dedicated to white power, and neo-nazism.
#489 to #319 - anonymous (05/13/2013) [-]
you're saying sharia law isnt primitive?
#654 to #489 - anonymous (05/14/2013) [-]
There is no one set of rules that is sharia law. Its essentially whatever Muslims call their version of local law. So the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt calls universal healthcare sharia law, Salafis call stoning sharia law, and how Malaysian prosecute DUIs sharia law. There is little agreement about what it is (as with most things religious) and has more to do with cultural attitude (as most laws are). So some are primitive and other's not. If you want to know what muslims think is sharia:

User avatar #331 to #319 - nebuchadnezzaurus (05/13/2013) [-]
Actually I'm going to agree with you. Even to someone not interested in politics, Putin has shown himself to be as right-wing as his position allows him to. I'm very much against political, social, racial, ethnic or any other kind of discrimination. Neo-nazists are some of the worst scumbags the world has today, and most of them don't even realize it.
