to be honest
i am huge hypocrite
i always say when you cannot come up with a reasonable idea for your cause (or what ever it may be) you should change your ideas

but the only real idea i can come up with for not being a vegan is

"meat is ******* delicious"

We spent the last several million years evolving to be omnivores, our bodies are simply not built for it. We don't have a big long digestive tract capable of fully utilizing the nutrients found in plants. We also don't have the right symbiotic bacteria to do it efficiently in the first place and completely lack the capability to digest cellulose. In addition being a vegan is expensive and a pain in the ass to stick to since there's so much they can't eat. Also, some people can't be vegan or even vegetarian because their bodies simply can't handle it. I know if I stopped eating meat I'd probably get sick because I'm slender and have a high metabolism.

you're actually right. In fact, eating vegan is extremely healthy. It cleanses the body really well, and keeps illnesses at bay super effectively. There's also a misconception that a vegan diet deprives you of certain necessary proteins/vitamins etc. The truth is, though, you can actually get all the necessary nutrients your body needs and still maintain a vegan regimen
disclaimer, before i'm viciously attacked: I am NOT vegan/vegetarian. But they're actually both pretty healthy lifestyles.

Of course, the 'necessary' amount is completely subjective to every person, but generally you can live off a non-meat lifestyle. While you are right that the lifestyle is healthy and cleanses the body, you simply can not get enough protein through a vegan or similar diet IF you are an athlete.

It's arrogant to think we know all the nutrients the body needs to flourish. Research in food supplementation is infantile.

Have they offered her any currently non-existent supplements? She might need those.
