I prefer a pipe, just because I live in the country, so it fits in better than a cigar.

correct me if im wrong (or just thumb me down, IDGAF), but i thought only the purchasing of cubans directly from cuba (IE contributing to their economy) is illegal, but owning or buying a cigar made in cuba by someone not in cuba (therefore not supporting their economy) is legal.

So in other words, its not like cocaine, its not illegal to have. its just illegal to buy.
User avatar #316 to #284 - buckeyedrake (06/18/2013) [-]
Any Cuban cigars that were imported pre-embargo are perfectly legal to own, all others are not

i'm not sure about it since i'm european.

but just from the logic:
having a cuban cigar means that it was bought in some way on cuba, no matter how many traders came in between.
so you are contributing to the economy even if you dont buy them directly from cuba. (example: if you buy cuban cigars in canada and bring them to the us, canada still brought them from cuba. so it still earned money)

i dont know it myself, just thinking loud...

I apologize ahead of time for my ignorance - but I've never smoked any cigars or pipes or anything. I always thought it was just another form of cigarette, to be honest.

So may I ask how one smokes a cigar/pipe. What are the health risks and what's better about them than cigaretts?
#293 to #269 - fordun (05/10/2013) [-]
You don't inhale them. So that cuts the risk factor down amazingly. They use entirely natural tobacco in the case of cigars. Pipe tobacco usually has some additives but just for flavoring purposes and its never anything toxic. Your not really supposed to inhale them anyway.

Not to mention manufactured cigarettes use freebase nicotine which is like the crack of tobacco. Pipe tobacco and cigars do not use freebase nicotine so the addiction potential is about the same as a cup of coffee.

If you do decide to pick up the hobby i recommend pipes as cigars can be expensive. Personally at anywhere from 6-10$ a cigar i only smoke cigars as a occasional thing.

Run to your local Walgreens and see if they have any Doctor Grabow pipes or Corn Cobs. Grabows can be had for about 25$. While Corn Cobs are cheap as dirt at around 5$. Then check out local corner stores for pipe tobacco. They should have something like Captain Black, or Carter Hall. Look up some guides online as pipe smoking has a bit of a learning curve.

Or forget cigars, and smoke a pipe. Pipe tobacco is almost always better, just don't buy the packaged crap at a convenience store. Get your ass to a respectable smoke shop and see what blends they have on stock.

Hey mother ******
Your grandpa may smoke a pipe, but do you know what that makes him?
One classy ************ .
Pipes are like saying "I have both wisdom and a will to relax, come with me and you shall hear a tale"

Not to mention

Frodo ************* baggins, Merry and Pippin all smoke pipes.

Thank you good sir, If only we could have a pipe session over the internet

Why not a zippo?
User avatar #260 to #250 - kenocaster (05/10/2013) [-]
yeah the fluid changes the taste, and those butane torch lighters are bad too, it starts the burn to hot and ruins the taste. Big ol kitchen matches are the best way to go.
#258 to #250 - lordaurion (05/10/2013) [-]

I don't know. I smoke cigars from time to time and i use a zippo. Although one of the last cigars i smoked "Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real" came with a cedar strip that i light my cigar with.

I don't seem to notice a taste either way if i light my cigar with clean butane (not a Bic), cedar, wooden matches, paper matches, or a Zippo.
#249 - anonymous (05/10/2013) [-]
almost every cigar they mentioned sucks on there
User avatar #239 - coldfear (05/10/2013) [-]
So basically if you know about cigars then this flow chart ends at the first step. lol
My favorites are Carlos Torano, Don Pepin(omg so good), and Padron. I've even had a few real cubans before. My friend got some from St. Marten on vacation and also his uncle is a huge cigar buff and he can get them as well.

Those aren't cigars, they're the leftover crap from actual cigar making that they roll up into cheap ****** logs of **** . Go to a respectable smoke shop and pick up a Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, or a Castillo Maduro, any Gurkha (Gurkha Legend is my favorite cigar).
User avatar #305 to #304 - thamuz ONLINE (05/12/2013) [-]
Bout how much do they cost? They look like theyre good.

And I know Swisher and White Owl are certainly not the best.but its all Ive ever been around XD
User avatar #307 to #305 - EventHorizon (05/12/2013) [-]
Romeo y Julietas are only 5-8 dollars, at excellent quality. The others will run up to 10 bucks. You shouldn't even really bother with sticks over 10 or less than 5.
#267 to #237 - sloot (05/10/2013) [-]
I enjoy makers mark cigars. They run about 8-10 dollars a piece. If you like some of the cheap ones from the gas station I would suggest trying backwoods. They have a great taste for a cheap cigar
