I'm just not sure if you are.
Like, many people earnestly believe those cartoons are 90s cartoons, when most of them very well aren't, they're early 2000's. The oldest of them (not including loony toons) barely make the 90's mark at all. And many people do get as fevered as your original post without trolling.
User avatar #136 to #29 - sargintob (05/10/2013) [-]
I don't think a lot of people know this, but that majority of cartoons that first aired on Cartoon Network weren't even made by Cartoon Network. They aired cartoons that were made by Hanna-Barbera, which made cartoons starting in the 50's and went towards the early 2000's. Half of the cartoons on the post were made in the 60's or 70's. The oldest on the post dates back to the 40's, which would be Loony Tunes (which actually started in the 30's, but the characters shown didn't exist yet.) So if anybody says "Only 90's kids will remember this," they are only half right.
#188 to #136 - justtocomment (05/10/2013) [-]
But that's my point, as several cuntnuggets seem to have misunderstood.
fuzzysixx pointed out several other shows that fall into the category that I should have typed out as "Loony Toons and their ilk", or "the original boomerang lineup". My point still stands, in the fact that you don't see posts saying "OMG WHO ELSE MISSES THESE GREAT SHOWS?!?!?!?" throwing up pictures of the Flinstones or Johnny Quest. They only made it into this post because they're juxtaposed to cartoons many people consider to be 90's cartoons. In reality, most of those shows either aired mostly in the 2000s (Ed Edd and Eddy, Powerpuff Girls, Jonny Bravo) or existed entirely in the 2000's (Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy).
So it always strikes a nerve in me whenever people call them 90s cartoons, or say that only 90s kids will remember them. Because simply put, these shows belong to the 2000s, just like everyone who thinks that being born in in the 1990's is what it takes to be a 90's kid.
Sorry to drop a bomb on ya, youngsters, but most of you were 90's babies or 90's toddlers. Most of you were in Elementary school when the 90's were ending. Unless you were actually a kid DURING the 90's, you were not a 90's kid. You're not Generation X, and most of you are barely Generation Y. That's right, you share a generation with YOLO and Justin Bieber.

waaaaaaiiiiit a second...I just reread that comment...I think I misunderstood a few things.

I misread what you said about kids and cartoon eras, and I agree with what you said after "TL;DR."

However, shows like Ed, Edd, & Eddy, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Cow & Chicken definitely ARE the face of the network, because as I said above, those shows were the first wave of original programming for the channel.
User avatar #84 to #57 - guymandude (05/10/2013) [-]
...too bad all of those "new" shows you named were actually in the original set of Cartoon Network's Cartoon Cartoons, meaning that they were ACTUALLY SHOWS FOR CARTOON NETWORK SPECIFICALLY, and were released during the 90's ( hence the whole "only 90's kids will remember yadda yadda"). All of the "new" shows you named WERE the face of Cartoon Network because Cartoon Network ******* MADE THEM. All of the Hanna Barbera stuff was the face of Cartoon Network for like 2 or 3 years before the channel started doing their own goddamn thing. I loved the Hanna Barbera cartoons, but stop acting like they are the "true" CN cartoons or some **** , because they aren't. They were the cartoons of a generation past, being aired on a startup channel that was basically just what we now know as Boomerang.

No one is claiming that Hanna Barbera belongs to that era of cartoons because they ******* don't. And btw, Cartoon Network started Cartoon Cartoons in 1994, not 2002.

You know, I'm kind of disappointed with my age group (90's kids), we got some of the best things to come out of childhood this is true, but to think that that's the end is depressing. No one has hope anymore for the future. I used to not give the kids cartoons of today second glance, I even spat upon adventure time because of my own arrogant stance that everything that was great happened in the past. But now, if anything, I'm excited for the future since the kids that grew up with the great childhood icons of yesteryear are now making the future. Sure there will be crap, there was far more crap in the 90's than there was good, but we remember the good fondly while the crap fades into obscurity (anyone even remember The Tom Green Show?) and the crap now will fade too, but what we take with us will be forever cherished. I'm even more excited for what the actual kids who are growing up with adventure time and regular show. Keep your faith in the future, it can only get better after the worst fades.

TL;DR Give the future a chance, there's still good stuff out there.
MFW the future is coming.
