Bike tires are designed to hold their shape no matter what kind of forces hit the tires (from that angle). Car panels are designed to crumple faster than a person hit over the head with a hammer. If anything this is a testament to the engineering of both vehicles.

There is a reason for that. If I remember correctly, engineers will give cars a "crumple zone" so that when it hits something, the crumple zone will crumple and absorb some of the force, potentially saving the life of the driver.

Bumpers are made to do that. That's why they're called bumpers. It's either that or the front of your car takes the entire hit and gets knocked out of alignment.
