It's funny how this got blown out of proportion. Most people here in Canada didn't even care, it just wasn't a big deal.
And just a bit of context, the prime minister dropped by at one of his shows, he was caught off guard.

I remember the first time I saw this. I was very deeply offended and I lost all respect I had left for that guy. You just don't dress like that in a formal place. Not even if it's "in". You suit up. A ****** up suit is allowed, but ****, don't come in ******* overalls, what the ****.

Personally I just dont get the whole "dress to impress" thing... regardless of status he is still just a human being, every bit as replaceable as anyone else on this planet. Respect is one thing but I dont think clothing really matters ( not saying go nude of course)

i guess it originates from trying to kiss up to you're superiors by impressing them by dressing in good looking attire

i personally feel good when i dress in fancy clothing

You could have stopped after "that's just not how you dress."

To be fair, Stephen Harper is a person of high stature, whether or not you like him. He is the goddamn Prime Minister after all. People actually do dress like that (although usually not in public) because it's really comfortable. Also, I thought it was hilarious that Stephen called Bieber out on twitter for dressing the way he did

More on topic here, I also dislike Bieber, mostly because he is very well known to be a douchebag to others as well as very cocky. It is fair to say that he isn't a bad person because he's against abortion, but I don't care who you are, saying rape happens for a reason is immediate grounds for someone to dislike you in my opinion.

And just to clear things up, I don't support Harper. I'm actually currently unaligned.

Oh I'm not saying I don't like Harper. I don't know enough about him to form an opinion.
I'm saying that that's not appropriate attire for anything other than working on a farm or something.
