The purpose of the wii mini was to promote low-cost gaming. It's the only still-relevant console I know of that costs less than a hundred bucks.

Case is broken in 4 different places, screen is cracked AND took a swim in the spin cycle?

Whatever floats yer boat, bro.
(seriously, My gameboy is running on less than fumes. The screen and part of the body case is held on by hockey tape and it's taken a literal swim in the spin cycle and i can still catch a ******* Seaking on it)

Mine is dented to hell, The screen is cracked in 4 pieces, I have washed it, twice. There is battery Acid leaking out the back case, the speaker is blown, I have to duck tape the game in because the port is broken. And it still plays like it's brand ******* new.

These things are ******* troopers

I just grabbed mine, turned it on. And after 2 min the back got so hot it caught fire, Then the battery acid caught fire. I threw it on the ground and stomped on it. And its still ******* going. This thing is the spawn of satan!

I over charged one of those to all hell, when the battery ran out I would wait ten minutes and it would play again for an hour before running out of batteries again.

This is actually designed for a rather specialized target demographic, so don't knock it because you live in a country that has wifi everywhere and spare room in your apartment. This thing will sell like gangbusters in some places, and those people will get exactly what they paid for. A balls-basic wii.
User avatar #16 to #14 - toughactintinactin (05/01/2013) [-]
It came out at the same time as the WiiU here in Canada, I don't know anyone who's bought it yet...
User avatar #53 to #16 - ThpiderMan (05/02/2013) [-]
Its released there, doesn't mean it's targeted for there. It's really targeted to China for the most part, as they're urbanizing fast and gaining a taste for technology.

but why would people want any type of Wii?
User avatar #1 - douthit (05/01/2013) [-]
WTF? Is that red thing a Wii?
#2 to #1 - someoneforamoment [OP](05/01/2013) [-]
yep. minus internet capability, sd card support, and gamecube support. and 480p support.
User avatar #3 to #2 - douthit (05/01/2013) [-]
What's this Wii's designation? I don't even know what to search to find out more about it.

Wii Mini. I updated the description, but information online is still pretty light. there's a disassembly guide somewhere also.

if i so much as pull the controller too hard on my n64 or move the cartridge a little bit it freezes.

According to the article, the Wii has been kicking so much ass in sales that Microsoft and Sony can't even come close to comparing to Nintendo's greatness.
#24 to #15 - anon (05/02/2013) [-]
Well, its sales dropped off a cliff a few years ago, but it sold so well before then that the other consoles never managed to catch up. The Wii is at around 86 million worldwide sales whereas the 360 and PS3 are at 76 and 77 million, respectively. It's unlikely that they will ever catch up now that the PS4 has been announced and the next Xbox is being announced on the 21st.
User avatar #25 to #15 - theexo (05/02/2013) [-]
well yes but the Wii U and the 3DS are doing pretty bad
User avatar #40 to #25 - ecomp (05/02/2013) [-]
The WiiU is doing better right now than both PS3 and Xbox360 did in the same time frame of them being released. PS3 actually had the worst launch in the history of consoles, and look at it now.
User avatar #39 to #25 - aerius (05/02/2013) [-]
Wii U is, but the 3ds is rocking socks in Japan.
User avatar #27 to #15 - sketchE (05/02/2013) [-]
yes but you have to look at whos buying it and why. if your point is its a better gaming console because of sales you would be wrong. many people bought it for the casual games and now it sits collecting dust a week after they bought it and their kid got tired of the mini game bonanaza which comprises most of the wiis catalogue

Now if you knew anything about electronics you would realize that the xbox is alot more complex than the N64. There are more things that could go wrong with the Xbox than the N64. Both are great consoles though.
#54 to #51 - someoneforamoment [OP](05/02/2013) [-]
If I recall the original XBOX's faceplate snapped off easily, ripping out the power button.
#59 to #55 - mytrakytra (05/02/2013) [-]
That's just a piece of plastic. The N64 is basically one giant piece whilst the box is several smaller ones.
#62 to #59 - someoneforamoment [OP](05/02/2013) [-]
look closely. that's the power button there. If you look at the back you would see some wires ripped out.
User avatar #46 - bagguhsleep (05/02/2013) [-]
I never really thought the N64 was sturdy. It survived a few things, but this doesn't make up for how often games would freeze if one too many air molecules hit it.
#44 - messerauditore (05/02/2013) [-]
When the **** did the Wii switch to that design?
#49 to #44 - someoneforamoment [OP](05/02/2013) [-]
When the Wii U came out. In Canada first.

User avatar #43 to #42 - lesrin (05/02/2013) [-]

Cool story bro

Isn't the wii also miles cheaper? perhaps there's a reason for the lack of ability?

what you pay for is what you get...
