Almost only counts in horseshoes, handgrenades, and atom bombs. It does not really count

Y'know, it's watching this .gif that makes the disparity in the animation styles between the two series so much clearer. Korra has much sharper detail, better shading and less unrealistically bright/full colours.

It's a nice .gif on it's own but it's a real treat for people who're into animation & artwork.

So thanks.

You're welcome, I also find the height difference staggering, like they really tried to make it more human and mature instead of the bright vibrant smaller animation.

Well, strictly speaking the height difference isn't all that staggering. Aang was about 12 when his story started. Korra is 17 and from a pretty sturdily-built peoples.

The differences in the two series are very interesting. Almost every single change feels like the original series just grew up a little bit. From a strictly analytical standpoint it was an amazing feat to make something so visually and tonally different whilst making it concurrent with the original.

Season 2 is shaping up to be something special.

Honestly, one of the main reasons I never got into watching the show was the difference n animation styling. That and Korra is like.. Too tall and bulky looking, it throws me off lol

Eh, can't argue with taste. I'd still suggest you watch it because it is bloody brilliant but aesthetic value counts for a lot in animation and some styles just don't suit people's tastes.

Has season 2 started?

Not as of yet. They weren't expecting to do a second season. They had plans, just in case, but they had accepted that Korra would probably just be a final hurrah for the Avatar franchise.

However... it turned out to be the most popular thing they'd ever done, bringing in fans new and old and critically acclaimed across the board.

As such we're now getting 2/3 more full-length seasons that had to be done from the ground up after the final episode of Season 1 ended based upon feedback. So we can assume we will be waiting some time yet for season 2. (Especially given the high production-values, emphasis on hand-drawn animation and backgrounds and high frame-rate.)

The voice actors had assumed it'd be out early April, but then they recanted their statements(on Twitter).

Hrr... that would actually make sense as it fits similarly to season 1, however it is more likely to be nearer fall-time given that they will naturally want to have started advertising a month or two in advance.

I just hope it's soon.
