Well in the EU most of farming products are bought and destroyed so the prices stay at a high level and the farmers get enough money...

Many culturally significant mexican foods (pozole, huitlacoche, etcetera) will disappear if GM corn gets mixed. As a fan of pozole, I disagree.

You do realize that the USA grows enough corn every single year to feed almost half of the 1 billion starving people around the world, don't you? You do realize that the reason why we still have world hunger is because it is more profitable to turn corn into Ethanol than it is to sell is as food, right? GMOs tend not to be more productive or nutritious than Organic food, and can require a great deal more attention and preventative measures (pesticides, herbicides etc) to keep healthy.

......there is so much wrong with your statement im just going to tell you that your wrong and not even tell you why. i wasted my time coming back one last time to see how this thread was doing and so far everyone seems to think gmos are da best because they are organic food could maybe support about half the worlds population and if you dont believe me i dont care no time to explain to you

Well there's still a possibility to replace all tobacco farms with crop farms to end the world hunger but like that's ever gonna happen...

and people want to make marijuana legal. Where will we grow it? And what about all the space it would take up that could be used for food?

Cotton takes up vast tracts of land and is incredibly easy to replace with Hemp. Invariably, Hemp is heartier (can be grown in just about any climate) and requires far fewer resources and smaller plot sizes to produce as much or more than a cotton field could. If all the cotton fields were removed and replaced with hemp, pot-heads would have their weed, the world would have it's textile supply and all the left over space could be used for food.

Ohh come on people - no matter what type of food we will grow

If we keep growing that fast we will end up with nothing to eat and nowhere to live
that is just a fact

and we just have the good end of the deal now - even as hundreds are starving in just this moment

The United States alone makes enough food for the entire world to live off of. A large amount of that goes towards feeding livestock, and another large amount gets wasted via mishaps and when people don't buy it, but the fact remains that the entirety of the population of Earth could fit in the United States with one acre plots per family (assuming average family size of 4) with 1,000,000 square miles leftover, and that the entirety of the population of Earth could be fed off of the food produced by the United States. The US currently uses approx. 900 million acres of farmland, and by fitting the population of the Earth into the US it leaves 600 million acres of land leftover. By expanding into Canada and Mexico, it would be extremely easy to both fit and feed the entire population of the planet in the area of North America alone, with enough space to expand to double that size if necessary.

That might be true but stating it isn't going to solve anything... At least with developed GMO we can delay the problem.
