or the '}', or the (), or that javascript (as opposed to C#) doesn't take identifiers (except for 'var')

how does one begin to learn things such as writing code? I'm interested, but i've never had any experience with it. Is their any kind of beginner's thing?

Well, I take it in high school but I guess based off of that you are saying our school does not offer such a program. There are tones of online resources out their that offer practice exercises and stuff, and their are whole books meant out their that are for learning languages essentially from scratch.

That's why I dropped out of computer science, because physics was a preferable choice, because at least physics makes sense.

Computer Science makes sense if you understand it. Maybe the language was just too hard for your to comprehend at the moment. Did you try learning an easier one and then coming back to that one?

Learning it in the classroom was fine, I felt like I understood the concepts (it was Java by the way), but when I actually tried to write a code, I couldn't do it. Besides, me dropping out was also because I really like physics, and I don't want to give up on physics so easily.

I gotcha, we all have our different interests. Also, I don't know what douche thumbed you down for not liking code, but I thumbed you up.

Also, if you ever get bored and feel like trying programming again, I suggest learning HTML (very easy language, technically not programming, but helps) and then going into JavaScript (different from Java, much easier).

Perhaps I might do that, I have been looking for a more productive hobby than gaming, and it is a valuable skill to have.

And thank you.

*rolI picture* would suggest trying GML to start if your having troubles. its stupidly easy in terms of format and such, is free (for the most part) and give you somewhat of a basis to work everything else off of. I can't do much at all. but its a start.

No problem. If you ever need help, I'm really good with pretty much any Web language other than ASP. I even got a scholarship for it, and I'd love to help a person who has a craving to learn. Other than Web development, I somewhat do DOS batch script, but I'm quite new to it.
