When a robber breaks into my house... I am not going to pelt them with a chocolate egg.

You do realize that a security system is for after the fact right, it does nothing to stop the crime. All they do is call the house when the alarm is tripped and send some police over. In that time an organized robber could easily grab something valuable and run.

Actually, if someone breaks into your home, you're only allowed to use enough force to prevent them from causing harm to your property. You can't use lethal force(shooting them) unless it was to prevent the loss of your life or the lives of others(i.e. he pulls a gun out on you)

But I could be wrong, I'm only going by what I learned in my Law Ed class.

Lethal force is authorized if it is judged in reasonable protection of your livelihood. Be that your home, business, or ,in some states, your car. Kids throwing eggs, no. Some one breaking into your house, fire away.
