So the $500,000,000 that was spent to put Boston under a form of martial law didn't have much efficiency, I see? The officer is obviously a nice person to give the family milk, but putting Boston on "lockdown;" the Feds showing their maximum force, as if there were a rebellion, for one guy, is a bit excessive.

I'd be concerned if what happened in the ultra-libturd city of Boston becomes conventional amongst Police. But, of course, to the libturds on FJ, they would love having their door broken down over the "probable clause" some Jew lawyer said would apply to a minor situation, via the 4th amendment.

Um... I live in Boston. I was put on lockdown.

The police came to my door and knocked first, we let them in and they did a sweep that took less than half an hour. They were actually pretty nice, and all of my neighbors were fine with it too. It wasn't excessive force they used, and we definitely wanted to be safe.

Plus they made my little brother's day by giving him a high five (he wants to be a cop).

If you weren't there, you wouldn't know.

No proof of that, it's just one anti-government guy hearing a rumor.

This "one guy" was responsible for the deaths and severe mutilation of well over 150 people. How was the lockdown in anyway excessive? The situation seemed very well handled. You are the only person I know of who is unsatisfied.

The greatest threat to our freedoms as Americans and human beings is loyalty to political ideals and parties. You allow those that share your views to commit various sins and yet do not judge them under the same perimeters. Good job ranting on the internet, not going to change opinions just lower yourself on a public stage.

Yes the evil liberals obviously support a police state. Tell me what's your proof? Better yet what gives you the right to belittle your countrymen for having a different opinion? A right given to them by constitution I add. Better yet how was this martial law? They were request to stay inside but folks were still out. It was entirely possible to go about business as usual if you chose to do so. And before you lash back accusing me of being a "liberal" I'm a centralist. Conservatives are dangerous to America as are Liberals. You are disgusting.

Oh, you're a centrist! A typical fat American who has no ideology but is swayed by which candidate gives them an erection. Nice to know! I'm sure your biggest issues are gay marriage and the Dream Act.

How was what happened in Boston, Martial Law? How does it reflect a failure to represent what our country is?

The Police brought in teams of soldiers along with armored vehicles, tanks, and helicopters. They went door to door in a pretty sizable radius without warrants; going so far as to knock down doors if nobody answered. This was a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act and the 4th amendment, mind you. The terrorists won in terrorizing us. They made us disregard the fact that we aren't a militaristic society and made the whole US scared. Cities like Los Angeles and New York has huge police presences. What did this result in? Nothing. A civilian found the perp and all those rights that were violated amounted to nothing.

Identical bombings which happened during the Red Scare, nearly 100 years ago, did not result in the shutdown of entire cities. Public Transport and Taxi service was dead since the bombing. During those bombings, which targeted government building, it was common for 2,3,4 people to die in them. We did not declare martial law, then.

And what about the bombers? Just look at how Graham started the banwagon which went on the premise that suspect 2 should be treated as a war-criminal.

My biggest issue is reregulating the financial sector. This can be accomplished by working with criminals (White collar criminals) and using their expertise to right air tight laws.

As for Boston, since you were not there can you confirm they did not request to enter the properties? If the home owners consented they are in the right. Where's the massive violation of rights you speak of? Citizens of Boston of went on with their lives, though many stayed in. There's whole pages dedicated to the pictures they took of an abandoned city, how they found it haunting and unnatural.

If you want my opinion on gay marriage and the dream act well: My family came over here in 1863 (drafted into the union army for citizenship), and in 1901. Both went through the proper channels and became citizens. Members of my family are gay and I wish the best for them, but as a heterosexual man I have no opinion on the matter as it does not effect me. I do believe that it's not the government's place to deny them to live and marry how they choose.

Again you're ranting and making accusations. Just making an ass of yourself. Conservatives are so prideful it's disgusting. The same pride forced Lucifer from heaven. Liberals are convinced socialism is the answer, but the soviets only advanced scientifically/culturally because they had a rival (USA). Without that they would stagnate and humanity would not advance. Both are dangerous and will kill this country.

As for you well, you wrongly believe you are more intelligent than the "sheep". Because of this you see yourself as worthwhile and better. In truth you are ignorant, and a slave to the ideologies of others.

They used, as I said in the OP, the "reasonable ********* " clause to do the searches without warrants. The homeowners had no say in the Cambridge, Watertown, and New Bedford neighborhoods. Yes, they, "went along with their lives," but what I am saying is that WHAT HAPPENED SETS A DANGEROUS PRECEDENT.

As for you well, you wrongly believe you are more intelligent than the "sheep". Because of this you see yourself as worthwhile and better. In truth you are ignorant, and a slave to the ideologies of others.
Says the person who is okay with the Feds kicking down your door and shooting your dog if he comes running to greet them. How can such an enlightened centrist be in favor of what happened in Boston?

To tickle your fancy, the greatest supporters of this lockdown were so-called "Conservatives" like McCain and Graham along with liberals who have no means of protecting themselves since they hate guns.

May you answer something: who are you? When did I ever call anybody a sheep? I agree with what the person I'm arguing with is saying, that mainstream Conservatives and Liberals are not good for America, and themselves. I am a Conservative and see how our political livelihood is limited and am scared at how FJ, although it is probably anons using proxies, are so eager to accept a Police state.

Police State? Bitch please, you know nothing if you are honestly afraid of the possibility of America becoming a police state existing. What precedent? Lock down and search? Buddy I live in South Jersey. Three years back a bank was robbed in Cherry Hill, and a cop was shot. People held up in their homes and the police did searches this is nothing new.

What doors were kicked down? If they homeowners give permission to search the police may search if they so no they need a warrant. This is a very basic rule of our law. Again I demand proof they were denied this right. Your word means NOTHING!

Actual liberals are very few and far between. There were not hordes of scared folks huddled together with their doors bolted. Even the armed should stay in doors as a large amount of armed and panicked individuals is dangerous to themselves and others.

I believe it was all handled well, the citizens of Boston would be the first to complain if they felt they were mistreated or their rights were violated. You have NO RIGHT to speak on their behalf, or on the behalf of anyone.

Bringing in the military which is a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, which is an irrelevancy, anyway. What happened in your town was not anything like what happened in Boston, WHERE THE ******* MILITARY CAME IN! How could you compare these two instances?

What doors were kicked down? If they homeowners give permission to search the police may search if they so no they need a warrant. This is a very basic rule of our law. Again I demand proof they were denied this right. Your word means NOTHING!
I was showing you the precedent you can't seem to understand because Obongo loves all of his children and would never agree with taking what happened in Boston a step, or five, in intensity, further, if say, 9/11 happened again. If 9/11 happened again there would probably be actual martial law in effect.

Obviously we are at a fault. I think these types of "lockdowns" will become common and that it sets a dangerous precedent; the disenfranchisement of our civil liberties. You have the utmost trust in the government and cannot fathom them ever doing anything wrong, as an enlightened centrist.

Were they even military? Or did they fall under SWAT/National Guard which would be under the command of the state/city. If they deployed these men it is their choice to do so. Debating the would be in violation of their "state rights".
User avatar #176 to #169 - byposted (04/21/2013) [-]
It was excessive force. And yes, it would be classified as military via what they deployed.

User avatar #183 to #176 - dwarfman (04/21/2013) [-]
SWAT and National guard have access to armour. Including APCs, and tanks. Federal would be easy to trace, would need to find were they originated (Which would have to be close since they were on scene early).

Pardon where did Barry come in to this? Also the government is often wrong. It is the duty of her citizens to question her actions, her motivations in every issue no matter how small. The only reason for this that I could think of was that.. they didn't know what this kid could possibly do.. or if perhaps others may be involved. There was just too much unknown, so they expected the worst and went at it with as much force as possible.

Excessive in hindsight, but at the time.. they kind of had their reasons.

The Boston bombing was the prerequisite to make "lockdowns" a normality. What happened in Boston was neither acceptable nor warranted for the situation. It was frighting to see the Feds having military parades and going into dozens of homes without warrants over a distorted crisis.

The Bostonians loved it, of course, but sane people must see the implications of what happened.
