It can matter what university you went to in some circumstances. If you're looking for a business or law career, it really matters what school you go to since that is the only way they can really evaluate your skills. I don't think it is necessarily because they have better teachers or facilities though, it's mainly just the name and the alumni from there working where you apply and picking their own.

There's plenty of millionaires and billionaires that didnt go to Ivy League though, so it's also about how intelligent and motivated you are to succeed.

If you're good enough to get accepted at Yale I suppose you'd get pretty decent grades/degree at any college.

Then you don't go to that school? I must admit, I'm not American so I dont have full control over how the system works over there. But at least in my country you pretty much get to choose between all the schools that your grades are good enough for
User avatar #247 to #235 - iamkagji ONLINE (04/19/2013) [-]
No, if you get accepted to an Ivy League School and never follow up they look down on you. It can kill your reputation and get you on an unofficial blacklist.

Seriously? I didn't know that... That's a real bummer.

But in that case I retract my previous statements.

No problem, always happy to teach people new things. This is a magnificent ********* brewing under my original comment, though, isn't it?

And I'm happy to learn them, thanks bro. I actually dated an american girl for a year, but never mentioned those details, she just explained it roughly.

********* indeed, though if the system is the way you explained I sorta understand your comment, though I wouldn't go as far myself

She ruined a once-in-a-opportunity worth a couple million dollars at least, probably more, because of petty ******** . She deserves to die, and the world would be better off.

If you get a degree from anywhere and you end up with a career at Mcdonalds that's your own fault.

Don't get a useless art degree then, that's still your fault for choosing a stupid degree.

She is a cunt, but any college anywhere will have a number of good degrees to choose from, and if by some miracle they don't there's 2 or 3 more colleges right up the ******* street. I'm not saying the mother was right, i'm saying you don't need a degree from Yale to not work at Mcdonalds, unless you're a full blown retard which in that case you don't need college.

99% of times a degree from another college will let you do the same. And even a degree from Yale doesn't guarantee you the job of your dreams.

If you go to Yale you're paying for the name, every class Yale teaches another college teaches as well.

It doesn't mean you'll get any less of a job, just because the university you went to had 1200 square feet of labs as opposed to 1400.

It pains me to see some one thumbed down so much, especially across multiple comments. Unless they truly are retarded or trolling.

Well, then the majority of people don't agree with your arguements. If this were a debate, you'd lose. I thumbed you up cause I'm feeling nice today.

You might not get a better job with a degree from a lesser known university, but saying that you'll be working at McDonalds just because you didn't go to Yale is retarded.

And my point was even with a lesser degree you can still be just as successful and possibly more so, so if you go to a a university and get a 4 year degree then work at McDonalds, most likely no degree from anywhere could have made something out of you.
