here's a new spin, although undoubtedly an unpopular one, presented by one of my colleagues

this chart is correct unless the European countries in question are: Russia , Germany, France, England, and possibly Italy and Greece
as for the Middle East: in a war-zone innocent casualties are expected, unfortunately, and it is a much more common occurrence for violence on a large scale due to radicalism..
anyway back to my friends point: why is the American bombings getting so much more air time than say.. Syria's? the answer is quite simple honestly

The USA has had a much MUCH larger impact on the world as a whole than Syria ( who is also in a type of civil war if it hasn't fully broken out yet)
for instance what was the last thing Syria did worth mentioning besides killing a bunch of other Syrians... oh right assassinating Archduke Ferdinand and being a catalyst for one of the bloodiest wars in history

just something that got pointed out to me in my politics class

Ferdinand's assassin was a serb if i'm not mistaken

that's a joke i threw in to make Syria seem important in something relatively recent I'm surprised, and rather disappointed, you're the only one to mention it. o> i salute your astute knowledge of history

historical fallacies don't make good jokes. you just look stupid

well if people catch the joke it doesnt make one seem stupid now does it, unfortunately i could have executed mine better. would it have helped by putting that i was joking in my post maybe? i'm new at this subliminal joke thing

humour online is hard to execute because its up to the audience to interprete.

thats why i like fj, you get feedback on your jokes instead of awkward, fake laughs or complete silence, and there's always room to improve them just gotta learn, be it timing or execution or something else

yeah, i've always felt easier about making jokes here, they're generally well received even if they're not delivered well.
