Surely Malfoy would have been bullied in the books?
They wouldn't have just added in the bullying because Jason Issacs said so?

Draco was not bullied in the books.

I think it's more Malfoy Sr bringing Jr up and forcing his own ideals on the boy, and Draco, not knowing any better tries to imitate his dad till the last book/film. Sort of peer pressure form of bullying.

hmmm, that's interesting. You'd've thought that they'd want them to read it though so they can know why their characters do certain things. I think Alan Rickman knew all along about Snape's history so that he could understand why he acts in a certain way so I assumed it'd be the same with everyone. My bad!

The place i read about it, it said Alan Rickman knew the ending, so he would have a better feel about him Lilly Harry and James! But i've read up on it, and there are many different stories! Some say they could read them other says they couldn't!

well, thank you for the info :) I'll be less quick to judge actors who haven't read the book in future :D

Most of them didn't read the books. Alan Rickman was told about what was gonna happen by JK Rowling before she'd published the last book so he knew everything in secret.

JK also made them do personality tests. Like she gave Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Dan Radcliffe essays to do about their character and Emma did like 3 pages, Dan did a page or so and Rupert crammed a little bit together before they were due to be handed in.
So they all matched their character perfectly. Some of the behind the scenes stuff is really cool.

I think that's actually a good way to go about it - people being judged on blood and background is a major theme in the books. Knowing the situation of the whole Malfoy family serves to make Draco an actual character, instead of just a straw-man baddie.

Also, can I just take a moment to say, "hot damn Jason Isaacs is fine?"
