It's open minded Christians like these that made me respect religion.
I'm all for believing in what you'd like, but don't use your faith as a crutch to express your own disliking for something.
Exemplary. Now if only people who simply find it disgusting for their own petty reasons got out from underneath their rock and took note.

Open minded Christians are what Jesus wanted in the first place. His ministry was largely based around being open to those that society looked down upon.

I would probably consider myself Christian. My view on it is just to try to be a good person, live a decent life and most of all be happy and make/let other be happy too. There should be one super commandment. "Don't be a cunt"

And Moses prayed to the Lord "Lord, what must your people do to follow you in righteousness?"
And the Lord replied "Don't be a cunt."

When Jesus was asked "What are the greatest laws that God has given us" he replied with, "Love God, for if you love him you will not sin against him. Love each other, for if you love each other, you will not sin against each other."
His last command to his followers before going to heaven was to love one another.
So, yeah, basically there is a commandment of "Don't be a cunt". Unfortunately, many Christians skipped that passage.

It seems an unfortunate majority of christians like to skip everything that would put them in the wrong. Makes me happy when I find a person from any religion that pays attention to the parts that really matter.

The problem with any faith is that you always get people who twist it for their own ends. Either for their own goals, to fight against something they dislike, or simply because it makes them "matter".
One of my old churches used to really make me angry, because the pastors loved to take pot shots at Buddhism. Too many churches are like this.
Then there is the (unfortunate) insistence so many have that sense they believe something, it should be part of the law.
Nope, try again. My faith is a personal matter. If someone wants to talk to me about it, I'm more than happy to share, but my faith dictates only MY actions, NOT yours.
I wish more people understood that. Many Christians make me ashamed to call myself such.

At least the new pope seems to know what's up, what with deciding not to live inside the Grand Palace that I'm sure Jesus would have agreed with sinking fortune upon fortune into and etcetera.

I got mixed feelings about this new Pope. He is a lot more humble than the ones before him, and I give him props for including a Muslim woman in his reenactment of Jesus washing his disciples' feet, but he's been involved in hiding pedo's in South America, and I've heard he was involved in some ****** up **** with orphans down there.
Of course the Catholic Church hiding pedo's and rapists is nothing new.

Not only should there be a commandment, it should be carved somewhere every human being has to see it every day. Like in the bathroom mirror. Every time you go to shave or brush your teeth, it'd be right there.
"DON'T BE A DOUCHE."
-I just changed it slightly because vagina's aren't all that bad, they put up with a lot. Douches, on the other hand, flush nasty stuff out of orifices, so it makes sense as an insult.
