Boston. ******* horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

Fred Rogers was a WWII sniper.
One day, an enemy soldier got close to Mr. Rogers while he was sniping.
So, Mr. rogers killed the enemy with a ******* SHOVEL.
Fact.

the bomber must feel pretty worthless right now. He sets off two bombs at a crowded event and only kills two people? He probably set those bombs because he cant do anything right.

My thoughts also go out to the 11 children killed in an American airstrike last week. And of the 40 killed in Syria in a peaceful protest that was mortared. It goes out to the school bus fired upon at an American checkpoint because someone ordered it just in case, to the Mexican police officers and civilians killed at a raid on a hotel and the rest most people don't hear about. Feeling sorry for people and making a fuss about caring when a couple of people die in a western country doesn't make you a good person. If you cared that much, you'd have to write about the countless amount of innocent people who die every week needlessly through acts of terror or war. 1 westerner dies it's a shame. 10 die it's a tragedy, 100 die and it's a catastrophic event.. 100 middle eastern people are killed in one day by an explosion, it makes the news if there's nothing better to write about.

So because this wasn't the only bomb in the world, we aren't allowed to be sad about it? Yes only three people dies, but over a hundred are in hospitals in critical conditions because of the bomb. Think of all the bystanders, too. Children witnessing something like that. Oh but we're not supposed to care because bombs go off halfway across the world. Which would you be more sad about; your brother being murdered, or someone in another city thousands of miles away being murdered?
I don't care if I get thumbed down for this, I had friends in the marathon and I don't even know if they're alive or in a hospital or what. But I'm not allowed to be sad about it, apparently.

^ That's the motto of journalism nowadays. I know because I'm studying journalism and I gotta say, it makes me sick. I agree with both sides: It's a horrible thing what happened in Boston, and my heart goes out to the families of the 3 that died, especially to the family of the 8-year-old whose life was cut short.

But on the other hand, I agree with everyone else who's posted about the other tragedies around the world that were much worse than this.

The media don't report on it because as people have stated, bombings and deaths occur in the Middle East all the time. News organizations want to share stories that captivate their audiences because money is the main goal. They're corporations. They're only concerned with profit, ratings, and sold copies.
It's called agenda setting, and it makes me sick. I might stop studying journalism altogether.

**** journalism.

P.S. Approximately three-quarters of the media world are owned by about 5-6 corporations, a couple of which are Viacom and Disney. Fun fact.

I'm pretty sure three people died. Besides - a human life is a human life, none is worth any more than another.

What do you do with the mad that you feel
When you feel so mad you could bite?
When the whole wide world seems oh, so wrong...
And nothing you do seems very right?

What do you do? Do you punch a bag?
Do you pound some clay or some dough?
Do you round up friends for a game of tag?
Or see how fast you go?

It's great to be able to stop
When you've planned a thing that's wrong,
And be able to do something else instead
And think this song:

I can stop when I want to
Can stop when I wish.
I can stop, stop, stop any time.
And what a good feeling to feel like this
And know that the feeling is really mine.
Know that there's something deep inside
That helps us become what we can.
For a girl can be someday a woman
And a boy can be someday a man.
