Your manager got written up for following policy? This happened to me:
> Be hostess at IHOP.
> Sunday morning post-church rush. Was a 45 minute wait for two people.
> I seat two fat Mexicans, woman with shariped eyebrows and 200+ pounds of fat, the man wearing bling and a grill.
> They shout their order at me, two full pancake platters, and two coffees.
> I apologize that I can't take their order because I'm not a waitress but I will send their waitress over.
> Get their waitress and she takes their order.
> 1 hour later I get called into the office and my manager tells me I'm suspended for a week because I "was rude to regular guests" and he had to comp their meals and I will get no pay during the week I am suspended.
> MFW I got suspended for something I didn't even ******* do when I was just following procedure.

that's rough man. my wife is sill in food service. luckily she works for the Sheritan, though, so she gets pretty decent people most of the time. but every once in a while, she'll have a real **** table. waaaaay less than a normal restaurant though. if you're still in food service, check into serving at a hotel.

I'm working at a little mom and pop place that's been around for 120 years. It's actually pretty cool so far. I'm going to culinary school so I might be able to spread my wings a bit.

Funny thing is I don't wanna own a restaurant. I want to travel the world and write about the cultures. The proper name is Culinary Anthropologist. Like Bizarre Foods.

You need a culinary school background to know what you're talking about.

makes sense now that you say that. otherwise it would be like 'this crepe tastes JUST like those cream puffies you get at costco!' or 'I'm all for good tex-mex, but I think Taco Bell makes a better beef burrito than this one in Mexico!'

its cool that theirs actually a degree program for something you're passionate about, tho. I wish they had an xbox-controller-building associates program, or a local media server troubleshooting degree..haha

A lot of community colleges have a video development program. I know mine does.

not a fan of video development. i just spend a lot of time dicking around with the DHCP server functions and settings at home, so I can watch my digital movies with the kids and what not.

I'm sure there's a program for that somewhere.
