Everyone is getting in these huge arguments about who's bigger and badder, can the US really take N. Korea easy, etc. etc., but they forget the fact that the US won't swarm like they did polynesia in WWII, they won't be so stubborn like they were in Vietnam. They also won't be the only armies there. The US has shifted to small, special forces type warfare (which specialise in things like guerilla warfare, etc.) which also includes drones, and the likes. Now that nuclear war is a much more imminent, realistic threat, it will be quick, fell swoops by highly trained groups of individuals. If you read at all, you would realize 85% of NK doesn't have anything to do with the government, are starving, dying, and would like nothing more than for the current governments to be overthrown. One well placed assault to take out one or two top officials (ideally Kim) would completely debilitate them.
I'm also Canadian, if that makes anyone feel any better about me saying this.
What the **** did you just ******* say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the **** out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my ******* words. You think you can get away with saying that **** to me over the Internet? Think again, ****** . As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re ******* dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little **** . If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your ******* tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will **** fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re ******* dead, kiddo.
We're smarter than we used to be. We also have more friends than N. Korea does. China probably won't even help them out if war breaks out because of threats N. Korea poses to South Korean and Japanese oil refinement plants than China buys tons of oil from among many other factors.
U.S. would win hands-down even if the war isn't nuclear.
Makes me feel better that Canada knows how asinine it is that N. Korea is attempting to fight the U.S.
China would be unquestionably on our side; they only hold on to their alliances with NK now because they are trying to keep them as a lapdog for spy work and scapegoating; also because it helps their case with the US selling them fighter jets. As long as the US doesn't completely own them, the US will continue to try and bribe them.
Also, I think they like the idea of a buffer between them and South Korea. The reason they want a buffer is because South Korea is under U.S. influence and they don't care much for being that close to us or our allies. Just my thoughts, not gonna go too in-depth with explanation but I hope you'll get the idea of what I'm saying.
True. Though China is still afraid of the refugee problem once the North Korean regime is defeated. It's always been simply less of a hassle to feed them and keep them quiet than actually going to war. I think the down sides to keeping North Korea alive are starting to break through to Beijing and it won't be long before North Korea loses its only ally.
I think the main thing overpowering their reluctance for the refugee situation is that China wants nothing to do with nuclear fallout, which would happen if: NK's bomb fails and explodes domestically, NK bombs SK (which is most possible given distances, but most impractical if you are NK), or NK bombs Japan, which they have mentioned Japan ranks high on their "to-target" list.
Japan is definitely on their list. They are still under the assumption that China wants revenge for the occupation (which we do. Most ethnic Chinese still remember this. The younger generation like myself don't feel it as much, but we still remember.) China has too many economic interests in Japan and the U.S. Also, relations with both have been outstanding. They are also doing very well from selling rare earth metals to Japan (90% of Japan's computer materials come from China) Why throw that away for a crappy country that is stuck in the early 50s? Also, lots of 'proud' Chinese consider the North Koreans waaaaay below them... I can understand why, though I don't want to sound like an elitist or anything. That definitely plays a huge role in China's diplomacy with NK.
I'm worried for South Korea, though. In a ground war without the U.S., South Korea does not stand a great chance. North Koreans have infiltrated before and have tunnels under Seoul that the CIA are still finding.
I doubt they did, NK is extremely vocal about all things done against their enemies (i.e. nuclear progression, etc.). We would've heard from them by now.
Getting spies in wouldn't be the problem, there are bound to be "SK" immigrants that are NK nationalists. I wouldn't underestimate subterfuge, but like I said had it been them they would have told us by now.
The one thing you said that isn't entirely correct is the 85% of N. Koreans that would like to see their current government overthrown. The government has such a complete hold on culture, media, and daily life, that I'd be willing to bet that percentage of N. Koreans would lay down their lives to defend their government, simply because they don't know that things could be better. They don't know how ridiculous the Korean newscasts are because they have nothing to compare it with.
I like how this is the second time I've seen you post this today. Except now you have a ******** of pinkies instead of a ******** of thumbs. Persistance pays off eventually. Well played...well played.
Apparently in China when someone is looking worn out from stress they say they are "looking yellow."
My Chinese flatmate at uni asked me the other day "Do I look yellow?"
>mfw couldn't stop laughing to explain to her, and she had no idea what I was laughing at
I'm not or have never been the leader of N.K. but if i were to make threats or order people out of a different country i would have competed rockets that would reach the U.S....
