Norway is running out of oil, though.
User avatar #107 to #1 - turboderp (04/08/2013) [-]
I don't know.. I can often see "huge discovery in the northern sea, more oil" on the news.. I know it wont last forever, but I doubht we'll live long enough to see the well go dry.
User avatar #112 to #107 - zaiopeperse (04/08/2013) [-]
Look, I don't watch the news very often. Last I heard was that we were using ore than we found that was two or more years ago. I've been told what you're saying before. Just scroll below and you'll see it a bunch of times. I know I was wrong and that I'm on the internet so I'll let you off without getting mad or anything but please read other comments first ;)
User avatar #116 to #112 - turboderp (04/08/2013) [-]
I did read them after I posted.. Sorry ^^

tho, you shouldn't worry about the oil running out.. It could even be good. It would (I kinda hope) force us into more.. "clean" paths. Now it's mostly "dreams", but it should be reality. More funding should go to clean energy.
User avatar #121 to #116 - zaiopeperse (04/08/2013) [-]
I agree. But you see, our oil isn't just used for energy. We sell it to other countries and make tons of money. That is the only reason Norway isn't still all farmer, fishers or miners. So ar much as it pains me to say it, we sort of depend on it, I'm afraid
User avatar #122 to #121 - zaiopeperse (04/08/2013) [-]
at least for now
User avatar #124 to #122 - turboderp (04/08/2013) [-]
Yup, it's sad. Also, todays kids, and those to come, is pretty.. well.. spoiled, compared to some other countries. We doesn'æt have to worry about anything, we'll get a roof over our head allmost guaranteed. (the quality if said roof may variate tho..)

Define "running out". Everyone is running out of oil. That's the thing about finite natural resources. They don't last.

User avatar #66 to #29 - Shramin ONLINE (04/08/2013) [-]
Its not that Norway claimed to be ****** , the government started planning for if it would ever loose oil in all seriousness, as in on top of the already government saved money that has been put into saving since the oil was found.

The plan is in effect regardless of the new found oil, the idea being to save money just in case at all times.

Why do you guys always start speaking norwegian to each other? You do that every day anyway, and you know how annoying it is when you can't understand someone. /rant
User avatar #70 to #39 - Shramin ONLINE (04/08/2013) [-]
I hardly ever get the chance to speak Norwegian these days myself, I live in canada and for a large part of my life I lived outside of Norway following my fathers work.

Now I live in Canada with my Canadian wife so I am back to not having Norwegians around me anymore.

just wanted to say that not everyone has the chance to speak a language they like at all times :). I would say Native but both English and Norwegian are my native tounge xD

Break the law in norway, your life get upgraded to a suite, a cook will make you food, you get a nice plan for the day that lets you exercise, earn some money, build something, watch tv, or just hang out talking with friends.
User avatar #33 to #30 - zaiopeperse (04/08/2013) [-]
well for one, their freedom is only limited to what they want. Example: gay marriage. Unheard of in most parts of the united 'merica. Denying it however sounds for us stupid as hell. We both have freedom of speech. and this will sound like we're less free but we are better at enforcing the limits between free speech and shouting hate. I know those are pretty ****** arguments but those are the first ones I can think of
User avatar #35 to #33 - finni (04/08/2013) [-]
America has more freedom than Norway, but the reason why they are not at the top is for the reason as you say, it's denying gay marriage in all the states, but I think it's actually better that they get to decide which state wants it and which doesn't want it. I mean, if we turn it around and say that the Republicans wanted to ban gay marriage in all of America while the Democrats wanted to let the states decide, would that be better?

But the thing about gay Marriage is why America isn't the freest country in the world. If the Libiterian party had ruled, it would be the freest party.

Please explain how limiting freedom of speech makes us a freer country?

Obamacare is now mandatory. Even if you don't want it, you have to pay for it. RFID's are also mandatory even after strong opposition from the people.

We meet again... Bagel. If 'merca has so much freedom then how come everyone feels the need to confirm it? It's like they fear not having their freedom. Which makes sense because the "land of the free" really lacks freedom. It's like PETA advertising with a slogan like "animal cruelty, FTW!"
User avatar #7 to #6 - sackit ONLINE (04/08/2013) [-]

I always wanted to live in Norway... How do you people view foreigners, like normal people (not some ************ ) who sometimes get drunk? and break stuff? like lithuanians?
User avatar #52 to #27 - localcatbarber (04/08/2013) [-]
It's not really socially acceptable to refer to white people as "normal people" here. Nor to use the term " ************ ".
User avatar #71 to #52 - matakeshi ONLINE (04/08/2013) [-]
I meant how they act, look at england, muslims came from land where they are not happy to place where theyre happy, and they want to make it like their homeland - a bit muslim so they would not be happy anymore. Or that they act immodest, claim they dont have to work and get more that already a huge welfare. Doesnt it make you angry that they literally are living out of your pockets and not acting polite and be quiet but even act that theyre the boss there. Here in Lithuania people like these are put to their place really fast and no one complains, because our ****** government isnt scared, nor they care about their own citizens.
#81 to #71 - localcatbarber (04/08/2013) [-]
Most immigrants I know, muslims or not, are nice polite people with no intention of taking over the country. Of course, there are exeptions, for example there are muslims who group up with other muslims instead of trying to fit in with the rest of society, and unfortunatly racism is overrepresented in the immigrant community, but I really just ignore the bad people and hang with the cool people, no matter where they are from. I feel like that's the general attitude here. You fit in if you make sure you're not a dick. (Btw, calling people ************ will make you a dick here.)
User avatar #14 to #7 - zaiopeperse (04/08/2013) [-]
I would love to know that myself. It's like the definition of freedom changes from "I am free, for I can have guns" to "I am free for I need not be scared of loonies with guns
