tell me about it. my friend worked at mcdicks and I would always make my way down their for pop and burgers when his shift was done. I imagine they lose quite a bit due to employees doing that **** .
User avatar #50 to #44 - phoenix grinder (04/05/2013) [-]
I worked at McDicks as well..but believe me when I tell you they factor employee shrinkage into their profit margins. that **** costs them NOTHING and anything they have to throw out or 'lose' counts as a write off. they're doing fine don't you worry about them.

seriously a large pop costs like 9 cents including the cup to mass produce. they're making theirs

Maybe because it's easier to drink a Coke than trying to eat 22 packets of sugar?

Here's the link to the scene

Also, this content is partially false. In Capitalist America, Cocacola and most other sodas don't contain sugar. Sounds fantastic, doesn't it? Absolutely no sugar! Well before you chug that two liter bottle of grape Fanta, consider the following. The US government gives farmers tax money to produce corn. They do this for bio-diesel, but also for high fructose corn syrup. HFCS was lobbied to be considered a "natural" corn product; a perfect substitute for sugar, but the process by which they synthesize this stuff is said to be similar to the way oil is refined to gasoline. Does this mean that we should consider gasoline a natural product? Why this whole "go green" campaign when apparently we've been "green" all along?!
We're among the only countries where the ORIGINAL recipe of the major soft drinks were changed because it's cheaper to use HFCS, even after conclusive studies have shown that periodic consumption of HFCS could is the leading cause of DIABEETUS in this country.
Sure I get it, we love sodas and candy and junkfood, but we have to consider that all jokes aside, some of us here in the FJ community are going to die because of this **** . The fact that your government is involved should make you care even more.

TL;DR - See picture

High fructose corn syrup is meant to be consumed much less frequently than most people do. Its not "capitalist America's" fault (which you sound stupid enough implying this is even a bad thing) its the fault of stupid fat ass people who over eat.
User avatar #122 to #64 - srapture (04/05/2013) [-]
Well, it has to be considered that one of the main reasons for that, if not the only reason, is that the HFCS used in sodas is over 50% glucose.
User avatar #123 to #64 - jajathezombie (04/05/2013) [-]
Yup, the government is killing people by force-feeding them high fructose corn syrup.

People already know that sugar is bad for you. They know it makes you fat, and they know it can cause diabetes. They still consume it, and that's on them. Just because something's bad for you doesn't mean we should place the blame on the government for letting it exist. If you get diabetes, it's your own fatass fault for not being more health-conscious (unless you get it from genetics or whatever).
User avatar #134 to #123 - funnyfuuuuuu (04/05/2013) [-]
I'm not trying to imply that the government is force feeding us, and I agree with you that it is the consumer's own fault. But the government still makes it hard for the US to produce clean sugar because most of the farm subsidy goes towards growing corn, consequently it is more expensive to grow and buy other crops and vegetables. Think about how much corn products the average American consumes simply because it is hard to find food without corn products that won't eat a hole in your wallet.
Don't even get me started on MSG (derived from corn) which is banned in other countries because it is basically poison, but hey we're the land of the free and the home of the brave; MSG has no effects on us right?

Not to mention HFCS is addictive and makes you hungry again faster
