You think that's bad? In the original plans of Portal 2 (it was supposed to be MUCH darker, until they apparently thought that it would be so much more difficult to market, so they added silly robots and a second, less serious storyline) there was a scene in which you hear Cave Johnson force Caroline into the machine that would "download" her into an AI, but Cave's voice actor straight up refused to voice it. Also, you were supposed to find Caroline's dead body, still strapped into the machine, which would cause GLaDOS into an emotional fit. In fact, that was supposed to be the climax of the game. Also, Wheatley was a last minute add, just like Atlas and P-Body.

But the machine was intended for Cave and only to be used for Caroline in the event of Cave's death before the machine's completion... Why would Cave be forcing Caroline into the machine?

I dunno, I liked the upbeat storyline of portal 2. It's more fun (personally) to play a game with jokes in it than potential rape scenes. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good horror game as much as the next guy, but comedy is far more appealing to me.

Yeah I really felt like the game was too light, considering it's about an abandoned underground facility ruled by a psychopathic robot who killed thousands of people.

I sincerely doubt that. First because you have no sources, secondly because why the **** would a voice actor refuse to do that? You don't seem to understand how difficult it is to get work as a voice actor, the vast majority of them just can't afford to.

It's not even as though it would be hard to find another voice actor willing to do it. You think mimicking Cave's voice is hard? Or that they couldn't find someone else?

Plus, his character raped men all the time on the TV show "Oz", so i find it hard to believe that he would have a problem with voicing that scene

Dude... I so wish they had done this. I didn't like how "light" the game felt compared to the first one because of all the silly jokes and robots.

Actually, Ellen Mclain (voice of GlaDOS and turrets etc) recorded her lines for the scene of forcing caroline into the machine, but the VA for cave wouldn't do it for fear it sounded too much like a rape scene.

Wheately was originally 6 different cores, by Valve changed it to just 1 for character development.
