There’s been a great disturbance in the Force, and it’s very bad day for Star Wars fans and video game lovers alike.
Disney has reportedly shut down LucasArts, the studio behind countless Star Wars video games and classic titles like The Secret of Monkey Island. According to a statement obtained by GameInformer, more than 150 employees have been laid off, and new games like Star Wars 1313 and First Assault have likely been cancelled, although firm details have yet to come in.
Disney promises that new Star Wars video games will still be made in the future, but they’ll be handled by other development studios and may have the ‘LucasArts’ branding. The new movie Star Wars: Episode VII is currently in pre-production, so it seems obvious that there will be at least a few games based on that.
The news is certainly disappointing, but shouldn’t come as too big a surprise. Disney recently announced a restructuring of Lucasfilm Animation, and cancelled the popular TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

To be fair they haven't made that many good games lately or even within the past few years.

The last one I can think of is Star Wars: Republic Commando but that was released 2005. The later ones was done by other studios.

So it's no surprise that they where shut down.

I have faith in Disney to improve the movie franchise based on the vast improvement to the Marvel movies after Marvel was bought up by Disney, but I haven't seen many decent marvel games since said acquisition, so I'm worried for the future of SW gaming.

Bring back Battlefront and SWG and I'll be happy.

LIES!!

I ran over Luke Skywalker countless times as a Stormtrooper riding a speeder bike!

yes if you ran them over but if you weren't in a vehicle you might as well kill yourself

Tell me, dear Battlefront player, have you never tried, on Bespin, to lure a Jedi into a mine and blast them off the platform, just for fun?

They could be killed. Just.. not easily. Or you just ran past them. The AI wasn't very efficient in controlling them.

no I was more focused on the control point more then the Jedi I just avoided him until he timed out

My tactic in almost every level:
Rush the enemy. Kill the enemy guarding the point. Take away their control over the point.

Once it's neutral, and there are no more enemies, move on to the next point. Your allies should be able to secure it by then.

you put wayyyyy to much faith in the A.I.'s

Possibly, but I prefer to have at least one enemy CP to lock them up in. I mean, trying to take over that last CP when you can't do it in one go is.. damn tough.
User avatar #20 to #19 - tankerdude (04/04/2013) [-]
no trying to have control of all CP then try to kill the rest of the enemies is tough

Before the 20 seconds are up? Yeah, that can be a pain.

Or on Tatooine, Mos Eisly. Hurry up! Find the last remaining enemies!

Screw you Rebel Soldier on the other side of the map. Screw you!
