We pay 1/2 the amount (8% GDP compared to 16% GDP) that the USA pays to cover everyone, while they have like 45 million people uncovered.

isn't the healthcare system there supposed to be failing though?

If the UK remains in the EU and lets thousands of eastern Europeans abuse our benefit system and our health system then yes it will fail.
But no the NHS is not failing currently. You are probably thinking of the cuts and privatization being done by the current government. But as things stand its pretty good. That being said unless you go in there and pretend to be in serious pain you aint going to be seen by a specialist any time soon.

The media here slags off the nhs way too much. I personally have had no complaints about my experience whatsoever and to be honest if you look at how many times they've ' ****** up' its absolutely nothing compared to how many times the nhs has helped, treated and cured people. The nhs isn't perfect and it never will be but it's damn well better than most of the world's medical care and we shouldn't take that for granted.

I work in healthcare recruitment and almost every private sector healthcare company we work with will refuse to employ an clinical or non-clinical staff who have not worked in the NHS Previously, even some of the companies who we deal with from other countries prefer NHS trained staff.

Here's another interesting fact. The NHS is the second largest employer in the world, second only to the Chinese army. (this fact was accurate last time I looked it up)
