Yes but not everyone references that. When people reference America, they usually mean the States, aka North America. If I say I live in America, people automatically assume USA. That's why I'm mad because even though that is true that Canada is in the Americas, people automatically assume it's US of A...or at least a majority of people do.

No. Canada is part of North America. The prefix must be included. The USA is commonly called America, everyone knows that.
